Solar Eclipse This morning, January 4th, a group of observers, the general public, and members and staff of Astronomy Ireland gathered in Howth to watch as the Sun rose over the eastern horizon, partially obscured by the Moon. The sun appeared from behind cloud at 8:50am, just minutes after sunrise, and remained visible for 15 minutes. This partial solar eclipse was the last eclipse that will be seen from Ireland for the next four years, and immediately proved to be one of the highlights of 2011.
