[Astronomy Ireland] Fireball, Doorstep Jupiter Watch, Events
Magazine Offer (3 Issues Free) Events DVDs Shop 1. Fireball Last night, Sept 3, at around 9:15pm a fireball brighter than the Full Moon was seen all across Ireland. Fireballs this bright can drop meteorites and we have already received many reports from people who saw it blazing across the evening sky. If anyone saw it please fill out the online report form at www.astronomy.ie/fireball.html as accurately and as detailed as possible. This helps us in correctly predicting its course and determining if and where it may have landed. As well as this, there have been reports in the media describing lights over Dublin this week, and Astronomy Ireland Chairman, David Moore, was on Dave's World on Dublin's 98 this morning talking about the various reports. Listen to this interview at www.astronomy.ie/audio. 2. Doorstep Jupiter Watch As well as our Branches running Jupiter Watches at locations nationwide on September 25, we are encouraging everyone to set up their own Doorstep Jupiter Watch outside their homes. This will give neighbours, friends, and family a chance to look at Jupiter through a telescope. If you are interested in running your own Jupiter watch, we can supply you with a free information pack, simply email sec@astronomy.ie or call us on (01) 847 0777. 3.
