[Astronomy Ireland] Tonight with Vincent Browne, Columbia Lecture OnLine, Please Help us Pack Magazine
1. Wednesday RTE Radio 1 at 10pm after the News: Listen to members of Astronomy Ireland talking on the "Tonight with Vincent Browne" show, outside and 'live' show under a clear sky (hopefully!). A unique event. Get your radio and binoculars and join us for a night under the stars. You can listen live online at http://www.radio1.ie/evening/vincentbrowne/ just click on the box in the sidebar that says: "click here to listen live to Radio 1" If you miss the show you can listen to past shows online too: just click "Wednesday" at the bottom of that page and you should hear us. 2. Our April 14 Lecture was a great success with over 70 people attending to hear Brian Harvey explain what happened on "The Last Voyage of Columbia". You can watch this talk on our website NOW by going to http://www.astronomy.ie Then click "Lecture Webcasts" on the sidebar and then click "April" (there are 10 previous months' talks online too!) After Brian's talk you can hear David Moore describe the Transit of Mercury coming up on May 7 (see May issue of A&S, out soon). Thanks to our colleagues at DCU for making all this possible. 3. The May issue of our magazine arrives in our office/Shop on Wednesday (the same day some of us are due to go on the VB show!). Therefore we need even more volunteers to come in and help pack the magazine into envelopes all day, and late into the night. If you've got an hour or more to spare between 10am and 11pm please call 847 0777 any time. There's a map at http://www.astronomy.ie/map.html We could really use your support this month as we want to get the magazine in to the post on Wednesday night so it might be delivered BEFORE Easter! If you can bring any friends to help please do! ===== David Moore BSc FRAS, Chairman, Astronomy Ireland, P.O.Box 2888, Dublin 5. Editor, "Astronomy & Space" magazine.
