[Astronomy Ireland] Aurora Exhibit, Astronomy Shop Jobs, Cork Lecture
Thursday 3pm Feb 24 1. "AURORA SYNAPSE" EXHIBIT IN DUBLIN This exhibition of the Aurora is to run in The Digital Hub in Dublin from March 1st to 5th. It sounds fantastic. There will be a launch on March 1st at 11am by Leo Enright which you are invited to. More details at www.thedigitalhub.com/news/events.asp (note the date HAS been extended to include the Saturday). They have to update the opening times but I was told it will at least be 'office hours' so let's say 9am-5pm provisionally. Check the website above for any update, there's a phone number there too 4806200. There are details of the exhibition itself at www.spacesynapse.com (click on "auroral synapse"). Brief notes include: "...film and photographs of the Northern Lights with a sound installation consisting of low radio frequency recordings, a geo-physical scientist explaining his work, and recordings of Lappish children and local musicians. Visitors will also be able to experience an element of traditional Arctic folklore which sees the indigenous communities sing and whistle to bring the Auroral Borealis closer to them." map www.thedigitalhub.com/images/theDigitalHubMap2.gif 2.
