Important message from our Chairman David Moore: We had a disappointing response to the announcement of our new Irish TV astronomy show (1 in 10,000 of you in fact!). This prompts me to ask: Should Ireland have a TV Astronomy Show? Vote now: YES: reply to this email if you think we should! NO: do not reply and we will take it that there should not be an Irish TV astronomy show! Will you tune in live at 11am every second Thursday, or record it that day, or watch it online at www.astronomy.ie/tv ? Even more importantly we need to hear your thoughts and comments on the first show after you have seen it: Is it any good? Is it worth doing? What should be covered? Is the spot too long or too short? What else should the show cover? Irish stories or international stories? Should it be weekly, fortnightly or monthly? Should it cover events on the ground or events in the sky? If you see any interesting video clips online will you email to tv@astronomy.ie ? In the 1990s we had a monthly spot on RTE's "The DEN" (with Dustin!) and then RTE 1's "Live at 3" which catapulted the society to become one of the biggest in the world. Now, thanks to TV3 we have a fortnightly spot that could even go weekly, but we need you to tune in and watch, and tell us that you're doing this! Vote now please!
