Ahoy Gang,

MY MOTHER SAID I NEVER SHOULD:

This fascinating all-female show will be on in the Venue next week at 8pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Admittance is 5 euro for non-members and a paltry 4 euro for members!

It promises to be an excellent production, not to be missed :)

DCU DRAMA AGM:

Wanna be a part of DCU Drama's committee next year?

Wanna have a say in what productions take place, and how they are done?

Wanna bask in glory?

Then come to the DCU Drama AGM on Tuesday 11th at 6pm, CG86 (the pit).

We'll be electing a new committee, so it is vital that we get quorum at our AGM (currently about 35 members).

You cannot afford to miss this opportunity!

One of our members has proposed a constitutional change to DCU Drama, and I am including her proposal here as it needs to be advertised at least 3 working days before the AGM.

I am also including a copy of DCU Drama's Constitution as an attachment!

There are a few other constitutional changes proposed, including the creation of the position of Set Designer, which, depending on our membership, may need to be voted upon at the AGM.

Here's a word from Elaine, who is proposing at least one change - see what you think!

Hi Folks

As you will see here from this constitution any proposed amendments being made to the constitution should be announced to the members at least three days before the meeting. That means tomorrow at the latest.

I have a proposed amendment to section 4.4

I would like to add the position of Training officer to the committee.

The role of the training officer would be defined in section 5 with the addition of section 5.6

The role of the training officer is to ensure that training is provided on all aspects of theatrical production throughout the year. They are also responsible for ensuring that there is a drama representative at any formal training provided to societies.

I would like to give my reasons for the addition of this position from my own personal experiences on drama committee. I was treasurer for a year and I chaired the society for a year so I feel that I have a really good idea what drama needs to help it progress and grow.

This year drama has put on many high profile events and it has made a lot of affiliations with other societies and groups both within and outside of DCU. I think this is fantastic for the growth of the society but I feel that the general week to week activities have been neglected and the achievements made this year are also the reasons that it has had some failings. There is nothing currently on offer for members to participate in on a week to week basis, no forum for people to make new friends, nothing for new members that join outside of clubs and socs days.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that the committee has put in an awful lot of hard work this year. I know that every year the committee gets saturated with work and projects and productions and somethings are left undone and I feel that for drama to develop and progress another committee member is sorely needed.

There are some positions are currently undefined. This could be made to the constitution next year perhaps but I feel that even if this were to happen in order for Drama to grow even further sub committees will have to be established and next years committee has an exciting time ahead of them. There are always more people looking to get on committee than there are positions. I feel that they should be on committee if they are willing to give the time and dedication it requires.

Thank you for your time, see you all next Tuesday.

Elaine

See you all at the AGM!

Bob :)

PS we're off to see "My Mother Said..." afterwards, and then off to the Old Bar for 3 euro night!
