Hello all,
As I previously explained in my last missive, DCU Drama has NOT forgotten those who went before.
Which is why we are reaching out to you, the alumni, for advice and help!
I now that several of you have been involved with our Musical in the past, particularly in a production-related manner.
Well, we already have two enthusiastic (dare I say rabid??) producers assigned to the task, but while they are foaming at the mouth over the prospect of getting our production to the stage, they are not averse to receiving advice, hints and the odd helping hand.
This is YOUR chance to have your say in how we run things!
Drop a line to the alumni mailing list if you are interested in coming in to have a chat with our producers, or if you just wanna come in and chat in general.
DCU misses you and so does DCU Drama!
More news as I get it,
Bob.

Hi again!
Thanks for the emails Bob. Great to be kept in touch. Don't think I've any expertise to share, but if I think of any contribution I can make I'll let you know.
I just have a quick favour to ask. Would any tall person be interested in getting into a wizard of oz costume for charity? If so, please give me a call on 087 2791905. You'll go straight to heaven.. or something.

Hello Alumni!
Here's what DCU Drama have planned for this week, the usual fun and malarkey.
Is anyone free on Wednesday to come along and help us out with a tack of auditions? Particularly Stars In their Eyes? Someone of a more musical bend than, say, tone-deaf old me?
If you're available and interested in prowling your old stomping ground, drop me a line at chair@dcudrama.ie...
Cheers!
Bob
Ahoy!
Greetings and welcome to the DCU Drama mailing list.
READ TO THE END, IMPORTANT INFO RE: BROADWAY TRIP!!
If you're new to the list, then you'll receive a mail like this every Monday, jam-packed with information about what we have planned for you in the week ahead. This information is also going to be available on our website at www.dcudrama.ie <http://www.dcudrama.ie>. Our website is currently being overhauled (although you can check out pics from Clubs and Socs days at http://www.dcudrama.ie/gallery/v/cnsdays2005/), so your best bet is to consult the Drama email every Monday for the moment...
What's happening this week:
Monday 10th, 7pm, QG15 (Business School) - Our Annual EGM!
Here's where we get to tell all of our members what we have planned for
Hi Bob, nicky here, I think i met you last year at the musical, i`m in manchester at the moment. I have done a few more musicals over here and i`m in the midddle of trying to produce "Joseph". We`ve just finished our audtions last week. What kind of problems do you have...I`ll do my very best to help out...you could call me or something...I`m DCUDRAMA for life. Nicky them
throughout the year (heh heh heh). We also have to elect a fresher to our committee to serve as First Year Rep. I was last year's First Year Rep, and it's a little hard work, but very rewarding and great craic. We are looking for someone who has a lot of energy, is good at rallying the troops and basically wants to prostitute themselves for DCU Drama. Think you've got what it takes? Then stand up at the EGM and tell us why YOU'RE the man/woman/other for the job! Get elected and receive the kudos and fawning attention you deserve! Yay!
At the EGM, we will also be asking you to sign up for various activities, such as directing, acting, promotion and a whole host of other activities. We have a lot of events in the pipeline for the year, but without bodies, they're going nowhere. Wanna direct? We have scripts that need casting and direction. Wanna produce? We are dying to get our newest members involved, as well as welcoming back last year's spectacular crop.
After the EGM, we're all off to the New Bar for drinkies and nibbles. This is where the basis for our year in Drama really gets moving. Here's where we do our networking, put potential directors in touch with potential production teams and watch the magic happen. So make sure you come along to the New Bar afterwards!
Wednesday 12th, 2pm, XG01, XG14, XG15, XG16 - Auditions!!
As I've said, we have a lot of productions in the pipeline for this year. We ain to have several sets of auditions for 4 different productions ALL on Wednesday. Think it's ambitious? Ha! Think again. We have TWO one act plays, going on during week 8 (Arts Week) and again during week 10 (St. Pat's One Act Wonder Festival), we have our Christmas Panto (week 11) and we also have DCU Drama's very own production of "Stars in their Eyes" (again week 8). Think you can sing? Or act? Come at auditions and find out! We'll give you more details at the EGM... These wil be an initial round of auditions, there will be more, but we find it's best to get in early...Rooms subject to change.
BROADWAY TRIP:
Yes, the moment you've all been waiting for. Barring a complete and utter disaster, DCU Drama are off to New York on the 30th of January 2006 for four nights and three Broadway shows. Interest in this trip is at a record high, with a huge buzz around campus. There remain a few facts to discuss however...
The trip has 30 places available. No more, no less.
We want to make this trip available to ALL of our members on a completely fair basis, which is why we have not been accepting and advance deposits (no matter how hard people have tried...)
Yes, some places have already been taken by members of the Drama committee, as is necessary because after all we are organising the event and will need to be there in a position of responsibility and supervision.
In order to secure your place on our trip, come to the EGM on Monday night, and bring a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of ?150 with you. Should you decide to bring more, fantastic, we need to have collected all monies within the next four or five weeks. Having more money will NOT give you the edge over others though.
Scared off by the whole "non-refundable" aspect? Not to worry, if you have signed up and find you cannot go, there will be people lining up to take your place. Simply get one of them to pay you 150 bucks and Robert's your father's brother!
Unfortunately, I can foresee something of a stampede for places on the trip. I'm sorry in advance that some of you will not get to go. We have to limit the trip to 30 students for sheer logistical purposes.
And yes, it is first come, first served.
Have a great week and we'll see you all at the EGM!
Yay! Again!
Bob

Hi all (and Sarah and Nicky particularly!), Just wanted to let everyone know that the Drama AGM this year was *amazing*! I happened to walk by last night and there was 150 members packed into QG15, cheering and clapping and making a big drama noise while watching a very professional looking PowerPoint (wouldn't have happened in our day, etc...). It looks set to be a great year altogether. Go drama :) A couple of us oldies were chatting recently, and we'd like to get something happening on the alumni front, along the lines of the kind of thing Redbrick does for their alumni - have a bit of a get together, talk about the old days, and boss the new committee around :p Bob's given us a starting point so we have to take it from here. If anyone has any thoughts on that, let the list know. I'll poke someone to try and get a forum set up soon so people can post instead of e-mail. Also, if anyone can think of names to add to this list (I think there's only about 20 at the moment) please give Bob a shout. Watch this space....! Riona

Have to say that Science on stage was one of the best things I did last year, so I would encourage all alums to get back in touch and give something a go! I have been taking about this for as long as I remember but really want to get the drama history sorted out! and archived and updated on the website. I would have contacts with some of the golden oldies going back ten or eleven years now. so I really want to get this project off the ground. Will be busy for a few weeks but November on I'd like to start piecing it back together. Who's with me!? Cli *DCU DRAMA - MAKE A SCENE*
