[Drama-alumni] This Week! Rocky Horror! More Auditions! Etc!
Hi Alums!! More news from Drama this week, sorry it's a little late tho (my bad) Bob GorBleedinBlimeyGuvnor! There's just sooo much stuff going on this week in DCU Drama, it's all a little overwhelming. But we persevere, because WE ARE DRAMA, DAMMIT! Righty Ho, first off, Drama have managed to get their grubby little hands on an undisclosed number of tickets for the Socs Ball, the premier night out of the college year. We will offer said tickets to our members BEFORE they go on sale to the general public at exactly the same price. We only have a few, so it's first come, first served! Sorry... The Socs Ball is probably the most in-demand ticket of the year (with the exception of DCU Drama's annual musical), and last year tickets went on sale at 10am and sold out at 10.25. And if you hadn't been queuing since 8.30, you were shit outta luck. It's all happening at the Burlington Hotel on the 29th of November, and tickets are a bargain bin 45 euro. Email your name and phone number to dcudrama@gmail.com and we will provide tickets for you in the order in which we receive the emails. It's the fairest way :) THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is upon us again! This year, we are holding it in association with the SU Halloween Ball on Thursday night the 27th (this Thursday!). It's a great opportunity to put on women's clothes (if you're a guy) or dress really slutty (if you're a girl, a guy, or other). We then get to sit in the Venue, watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show, scream, yell abuse, throw stuff, sing and dance. It's what Drama is all about, and has become an annual favourite of our members. Here's the deal: Tickets for the Halloween Ball are 8 euro. HOWEVER, Drama are offering discount priced tickets to our members! 'Cos we looove our members, basically. So if you're a member of DCU Drama, you get to go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show AND the Halloween Ball for a ridiculously cheap price! Yay! Watch out for our stand in the HUB during the week! We will be hosting rehearsals this week, essentially to advise our audience WHEN you should throw stuff at the screen, HOW to do the Time Warp, and all that jazz. Come along to C104 in the Henry Grattan tonight (Monday) at 6pm and a fun time is guaranteed! No dressing up necessary, but make sure you dress up on the night....Check out pics from last year at: http://www.dcudrama.ie/gallery/v/rockyhorror2004/?g2_GALLERYSID=218bd24b62ab... click on the link to see what you're in for!) MORE AUDITIONS! FOR MORE STUFF! Here at Drama, it's all auditions, all the time. Yay! For those of you who attended the marathon audition sessions of the last few weeks, and are wondering what the hell happened, the cast listings of our upcoming plays and pantos and other madness will be posted on our website this week - check it out at www.dcudrama.ie <http://www.dcudrama.ie>. ...cos there's yet more auditions! One of our members is casting an all-female show called "My Mother Said I Never Should," a tour-de-force for FOUR intrepid actresses. This is due to be performed in the second semester, so you'll have loads of rehearsal time. It's the story of several female generations of the same family and promises to be powerful stuff. So get over to CG05, the Henry Grattan Building at 6pm this Tuesday and meet the Director! No other preparation is necessary, just show up! (you'd better be a girl though, sorry guys). MERCHANT OF VENICE: We were pleasantly surprised at the level of interest at DCU Drama's second stab at Shakespeare (we did Macbeth last year to great acclaim). To the extent that we need to have further auditons and callbacks to determine our cast. So get along to XG14 at 2pm wednesday and do just that! If you were there last week, chances are we want to see you again, so please come along. We'll be there until six o clock, but the earlier you get there, the better :) WHO'S LINE IS IT ANYWAY? We will be holding sort-of-auditions for this event NEXT week. It's an improv show, so you don't have to worry about learning your lines - you just have to be quick thinking and funny! No sweat there then. Check the website for further details (as soon as we post them...) Enough! To both of you that read all the way to the end of this email, congrats! I'm outta here, Bob! -- Roibeard O Mhurcu # 54144094 CS2 Class Rep.
