[Drama-alumni] Keeping you up to date...this week: lots more stuff!
Ahoy Alums! Loads more stuff happening with DCU Drama this week, ALL of which you are more than welcome to attend :) Firstly, there's an excellent show going on at the Helix this week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, called "Floating." It starts at 10am and again at 12.15pm and costs just 7 euro. Our DCU Drama President, the esteemed Marie-Louise O Donnell, has told me that if you ever wanted to know how Drama should be done, then SEE THIS SHOW. Nuff said really. Elsewhere this week: More Auditions: Tuesday 18th, 6pm, CG05: There will be another round of Auditions for "TAPE," where we are still seeking a leading lady. Daniel Bevan will be hearing more readings on this night, and the show should be cast soon! Tuesday 18th, 6pm, CG04: PANTO! PANTO! PANTO! We are holding further auditions for those who didn't make it to last week's extravaganza in the X Building... Come along and Strut Your Stuff! Wednesday 19th, 3pm, XG16: STARS IN THEIR EYES! Many of you were unable to make the original auditions last wednesday, so now's your chance. The level of interest is huge, so if you wanna be in the show, turn up and dazzle us! Please bring a CD of the song you intend to sing on the night too, Cheers. If you auditioned last week, come along again to convince us that YOU should be in the show! Wednesday 19th, 2pm, XG14 & XG15: THE MERCHANT OF VENICE: Shakepeare's famous little scribble is being slightly turned around by DCU DRAMA this year. Directed by Eoin O' Callaghan and Siobhan Hickey, our modern re-telling of the tale promises to top last year's Macbeth in terms of excitement, enjoyment and overall wonderfulness...ness. Wednesday sees the first auditions taking place and DRAMA urge you ALL to come along as the size of the cast is quite large. The director's promise that it will be worth your while taking part as the play will be held next February in The Helix, so you can all tell your mates that you will be acting in one of Ireland's top venues. Anyone unfamiliar with the play? That doesn't matter as before auditions, there will be a slight run-down of the storyline and character blurbs too. So until Wednesday then... Thursday 20th, 7pm, The Venue (tbc): ACTING WORKSHOP: The fabulous Alan Kinsella is back again to put us through our paces with another acting workshop on Thursday. While the last one we had concentrated more on improvisation and zaniness, this one will be more acting-focused and there'll be some readings too. Come one, come all, and show us what you can do! Coming Soon: want to sharpen your improv skills? DCU Drama are having their own "Who's line is it Anyway?" session on the 11th of November in the Helix, as part of DCU's 25th anniversary celebrations. No, Drew Carey/Clive Anderson won't be there, but we need as many budding comedians and hecklers to make up a show and an audience! Auditions coming soon, and don't worry about having to learn lines - there aren't any! Right, that's it, I'm outta here. Bob -- Roibeard O Mhurcu # 54144094 CS2 Class Rep.
