Hi There I agree that Arsheen deserves an award, but it's got nothing to do with Drama to be honest; I don't think it's appropriate to give her an award when she's not a member and hasn't contributed to Drama in any real sense. There are members of the society who won't be getting an award because there were other people in the society who did more work and contributed more, so why should they not be recognised in the same way? I think it'd be unfair on them if Arsheen was given an award I know that's harsh, but it's just not our job to make up for other peoples' oversight. Paul -- www.paulmay.org

[Drama-committee] all students mail on the hub

Hi folks http://www.dcu.ie/surveys/hub.shtml You would all have recieved a mail that asked you to fill in a survey for the Hub and we would appreciate if you did fill it out with the following issues in mind.... There are some jobs that urgently need doing to improve the standard of the Venue. The Macs need to be serviced, they are close to blowing up point at this stage and they are costly to replace so that's priority 1. and a new lighting desk is also needed. The sound in the building is crap so to improve this we need something to absorb all the feedback such as curtains or felt wall paper on the walls. To aid this a Black resin flooring or temp carpet. The new bar is a great place when 5 hours of work goes into making it look well so something like a curtain rail would make things run alot smoother and although we cant cover the doors with curtains, blinds on the emergency exits would provide ambience. Dimmer switch on the lights would be a huge advantage. A canopy is needed on both out door areas.

Hush Abye Mountain is playing in the Teachers Club, 36 Parnell Street on Fri May 7th and Sat May 8th @ 8pm as part of the first International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. The tickets can be bought from the Central ticket Bureau http://www.centralticketbureau.com or phone 872 1122. Being but a fresher, I don't know the significance of this show or the potential interest in it. If some of the veterans on committee who were involved in the DCU Drama production of Hush-a-bye want to take it from here, please do - maybe there's a mailing list that survived from that cast, or even using the alumni list, people could be contacted about a formal or informal theatre trip. By the by, St.Pat's will be doing a few productions next week, so anyone who's bored and willing to show some External Liasons support in thanks for legendiffic Martin d'French, let me know, and I'll send on the details. In fact, I'll probably mail the society list next week about them anyway. I bumped into the d'French today as a matter of fact - he's busy, but says he might try and get along to the D.A.D.A.s tonight. Is there an acting workshop tomorrow evening? And if so, let's get a mail out there and scare up a mighty crowd of people from the D.A.D.A.s tonight to go to it. Regards Arsheen, I'd go with Paul, it's not our place and although the sentiment's right, I don't think it's really appropriate. However, I don't mind, I love Arsheen, so if we decide to give her an award, I'm behind it all the way - in otherwards, I'm not interested in pre-empting the celebration that is the D.A.D.A.s with a fuss. I'm sure I can remember everything else I want to say, and leave it 'til 5. Howaya Can we make sure tonight that when awards are given, or nominees announced that they're done for specific roles. I think the best actress award might be a bit "controversial", so it'd be important to say in that instance that it was for a performance in a particular role...do you know what I mean? So, while we're still saying "best" actree, it's for a specific role. That might sound a bit pedantic, but I think we should be clear what roles people were nominated for.... What do yee think?
