Hey, A Christmas Carol in the Gate is booked out until 31st Dec. They have free chairs on that date for the 3pm matinee. Its €18 each. What do we think? Just forget the show or go to it on the last day of the year??? Either way, we need to go out, i would feel a great injustice if we didn't, we deserve drink and food... at discounted rates.... hehe.... Anyway, I think this is the biggest priority in DCU Drama RIGHT NOW! And if that isn't dramatic enough for ya, then I RESIGN! Yeah i said it! fuck you guys.... Steve P.S. DRAMA Committee Meeting *Present: Everyone bar Atlas.* *Panto:* Went really well. A week or two before the show, the budget went up…Perhaps before the show we could have increased price?? Bob disagreed and made the point that the crowd size would suffer accordingly. 656 euro for Tuesday and Wednesday. Price wise: went well for us. Ticket sales were poor, i.e. should've been started a week in advance. Ditto with Stars In Their Eyes…UCD have a 'Front of House' committee member who'll handle all ticket prices, promotional side of things, etc. This to be looked into…Stephen made the point that ticket sales were not up to scratch and Bob followed this by saying tickets should go sale a week in advance. Dave made a valid point on forming a relationship with the SU reception on selling tickets from this point for the future. Dave to look into this… Broadway: 17 out of 30 have not paid the third instalment. 3 have not paid their SECOND instalment!! Jennifer Saunders?? Has not paid anything and we have to MAKE a decision on this…Can we get in touch with her and FIND out!! To be phoned immediately! Musical: Six members of cast will be auditioning for the forthcoming musical. There will be a meeting this Wednesday, in the Business School for a preview of Guys and Dolls. A number of committee will be present. Alan Kinsella as a director for the musical was brought up tonight. It was felt that perhaps the producers of the musical might be better off dealing with the idea of directors, etc and let the committee cool off from dabbling in production matters…But what is done is done. Let's move on from this. Alan was decided upon because it needed to be done at the time and that's fine. Shane made the point that being a committee member comes before a show and rehearsals…Stephen responded by saying that he did need the time for the panto. And made the point that minutes being sent out is crucial in that regard, especially for people taking part in certain events. If people aren't present, it is hard for people to know what is going on. Posters for QG13 to be organised by Joe Murray. Laura proposed fundraisers for the musical: a quiz and something else…Wednesday week one. Shelly and Joe to look into this. Music side of things: Musicans=1350 from last year. For this year: we propose 9/10 musicians, presuming their professional, 5 shows and rehearsals…4,000 on musicians?? That is the worst case scenario. We will probably improve on this figure and get some discount of some description. *Committee in agreement on this * *matter.** * * * Review of Semester One: *Stephen* as First Year Rep- encouraging first years to participate. His own participation, directing the Panto. What he hasn't done is organising a theatre trip but is looking into going to see A Christmas Carol for 20 euro in total at The Gate. Looking into Aladdin for January. Should've shaved more often… *Joe M:* Haven't done is most things under PRO, not much poster design, haven't been writing into An Tarbh. Attended ISDA meeting at Trinity, made those hankies for the Socs Ball. Joe will be in Dublin for INTRA next year and he should get just a six-week project and will have more time on his hands. Bob made the point that PRO needs to spend more time on promotion: ticket sales, Stormtroopers and the whole promotional side needs a bit of work. * Charlie:* He has prepared a list…New design hasn't been done due to lack of time, hasn't put together a history page yet, haven't scanned any old photos yet, haven't done anything with the forum, haven't done a sponsors page yet. Positives: put together a mailing list from the sidebar, the photo gallery is fantastic. Proposal for website: video footage of our one-acts to be put up on our website. * Dave:* Positives: summer drama stuff, recruiting drive for enthusiastic first years, showed these guys The Venue, tried to get First Years into producing, The Play Is The Thing, One Act stuff, helped with the Panto and RP'd Stars in Their Eyes and auditioned the masses for same production and looked into the musical director for the musical. Wanted to do a lot more: had to drop out of Panto and All My Sons. Looking into the musical end of things for the musical...Third years are under pressure and we understand. We are looking forward to seeing more of Dave next semester though. * Shane:* Swindled money for us, looked after Broadway. Would like to see him e-mailing the budget of the shows to the shows reps and not be presented with a collection of receipts saying "You owe me this much…" Our standing money-wise: we look reasonably well. We're not in the red and SPC money is owed to us. Looked at Alumni a lot…Diarmuid from Gaiety School of Acting, 'randomer' at house party from another drama society…forging links with loads of people. E-mails, submissions, photos, etc. Hasn't been done: better coordination, communication, delegation of tasks. Continue in the direction we have been going…We're all in it together.
