This is what im sending out.Im sending it out tonight because i want people to know about auditions as soon as possible,i will send it to you much earlier from now on Heyup Guys, Just a few quick words on the week that was and the week that is. Extraordinary General Meeting: Thanks to all of you who came along to our first meeting.It was great to see so many happy smiling faces☺ Congratulations to all those people who got a place to our trip to Broadway,in particular Ciara Buggy who won the raffle place to NYC. We also elected two new members to our committee; Declan McKeown will now fill the position of Tech Officer and Marion Hughes is our new First Year Rep. Two excellent candiadates,who will no doubt do a fantastic job!! Auditions: This week we will be casting for a number of shows.These auditions will be taking place in the Henry Gratton Building in rooms CG 1-5. These will be taking place on Tuesday (6pm-8pm),Wednesday (2pm-6pm) and Thursday (6-8pm) Here is a brief overview of all the incredible shows we will be casting for ; - Romeo and Juliet A play that needs no explaination……. Well maybe a little one. This classic love story will be directed by the very talented Catherine Carr and will be taking place in semester two. If you are interested in more serious drama this is definitly one for you!! - Panto: Aladdin If you only do one thing this year; make sure it's the panto. The flagship event of semester one, always proves to be hilarious, lewd and a great expereince for all involved. This year the panto will be directed by our First Year Rep and will be a Genie us version of Aladdin.(see what i did there......) - Lovely One Act Festival We will also be auditioning for a number of short one act plays. With an internal and external competition between neighbouring colleges,this is a fantastic event.With both serious and comedy scripts, there is sure to be something for everyone!! Also if you are interested in directing a One Act Play,please get in contact with us. - Stars in Their Eyes Produced by Drama veterans; Alan McHale and Megan O'Riordan, 'Stars' is a chance for you budding singers to showcase your talents outside of the shower. Come with a song in your head and a spring in your step☺ *Sexy sketching models for Shag Week:* As you may or may not know,Week Four is Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance week in DCU. I'm new to DCU (doing a master's in Film and TV)but I have loads of experience producing. I started my own production company when I was 15, and since then have produced both musical events (concerts, etc.) and theatrical events (most notably, The Who's Tommy, which I also directed). I was also involved with producing while at university, doing, on average 1-2 shows a year for the past four years (in addition to directing and other tech work, including lighting and sound), including Rumors, James and the Giant Peach, The Foreigner, and Urinetown. I'm very familiar with the process of purchasing rights to shows (as well as the restrictions that go along with that), comfortable with organizing and keeping track of the many aspects of a production, good about staying under budget (which has always been a plus, in my experience), and knowledgeable and experienced in the duties of a producer and the skills required to take on such a task (everything from getting the rights to making the programme). My professional work has been in music, theatre, and, most currently, film production (I work for Buena Vista/Disney in Dublin) so I have both extracurricular and professional experience in producing, marketing/PR (as I've found this to be a huge part of producing), advertising, and all the other aspects of event organization and management. I'm particularly passionate about theatre, and if there are still spots available, I would be very interested in producing/co-producing FAME (as I'm new here, I didn't know what your policy was about people producing alone--I've always found it beneficial to work in teams, though I would be more than capable of handling the task on my own if necessary). I've already done FAME (I was the musical director for it a few years ago) and am extremely familiar with the material. I would be dedicated and enthusiastic about being involved with this show, and I would welcome the opportunity to work with DCU drama in this capacity (as well as, hopefully, others as well! I'm very excited about being a part of DCU Drama). As I said before, I'm not quite sure how this all works (who I need to speak to, if I have to submit any additional materials, etc.), but I would love to discuss it further with, well, with whoever I should be talking with about this. [Drama-Committee] Another option for the set?

Hey, I found some cloth backdrops on www.backcloths.us . They aren't too expensive to buy and because they're material, they can be stored fairly easily. If we got a couple for each show we could build up a good collection. Things like trees and street scenes can be used again and again. Also they do custom backdrops so we'd have the option to design our own if we wanted, though these are a little bit more expensive. All in all, it'll work out cheaper than renting something. Let me know what you think as soon as possible. I think it'll be best if I put a few set options in the grant app because I really don't think they'll fund the projector screen yoke. That sounds really good to me. It should definitely be an option on the grant app anyway because it would be good for the SPC to see that we're researching a few different solutions to the problem... - they might look a bit weird as a set - Megan's brother works in timber but we won't get funding *- Megan to talk to her brother to see if we might get it sponsored* - we should talk to Cian because he's our rep - we have the same problem for the panto - could we get a huge sheet and paint it as a backdrop?
