Heyup Guys, As i sit here in Cavan,with nawt to do but consume everything before me, i have been thinking about the fanatsic first semester we have just had...from fabtastic freshers to intervarsity wins, from open days to panto,to the manicness of arts week,it really has been just amazing...so thank you all for all the hard work you have put in. I am really excited about next semester already and i hope you are all too....sorry for being a bit mushy but just with this extra time to think i realise how great our committee is. Here they are. It's mind-boggling how short they are! Susan :-) DCU DRAMA COMMITTEE MEETING * * *Agenda: **Monday, December 10th, 2007*** * * * * - Ratification of last meeting's minutes - Any matters arising from the minutes - Raffle money from panto - Broadway shows - Broadway itinerary - Equipment room clean-out - AOB *Absent:* Conor, Marian *Raffle money from panto:* - we raised €50 from the raffle at the panto on Wednesday night - we will give it to Rag Week because we gave one euro of every ticket sold to SVP *- Jenni to write the cheque* *Broadway shows:* - we will be going to Wicked on the Thursday - Spelling Bee and Les Mis are going to be off Broadway when we're there - we can't go to Spring Awakening because they don't have enough student tickets - possible shows to go to: Avenue Q, Chicago, Grease, Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Spamalot, Phantom of the Opera, The Color Purple - definite choice: Phantom of the Opera on the Wednesday - definite choice: Hairspray on the Tuesday *- Pauric, Alan and Jenni to finish booking the shows at **3pm** on Tuesday* *- Pauric to talk to Joey about paying for the tickets* *Broadway itinerary:* - the itinerary is nearly done, apart from the shows *- Pauric to finish it off before Wednesday* - we will have a Broadway meeting at 2pm on Wednesday to go through the itinerary with everyone *- Susan to email out about this meeting* - proposal to have four committee members to look after ten people each while we're in New York - Pauric, Declan, Yvonne and Fiona volunteered to do this - Laura Moore can't go to Broadway so Stephen Grimes is next on the list *Equipment room clean-out:* - didn't happen this morning because we didn't have the key *- Pauric and Declan to sort it out on Wednesday after the Broadway meeting* *AOB:* - Rag Week meeting: each society needs to raise €200, go to Joey if we need any help - Scrooge: everyone's welcome to come along at 4:30pm on Thursday *- Susan to send on a blurb to Pauric for the announce drama* * * *Next meeting: **5pm**, **Friday, January 25th, 2008***

Heyup Guys, Just a quick word of thanks to all of you who got involved in drama this semester, from orientation workshops to panto last week, it really has been a rollercoaster. I hope you all enjoyed the semester as much as we the committee did and remember it really is a game of two halfs, so if you have yet to do anything with drama or you feel like you want to get involved, we will be having a lot more coming, so watch your emails....... However just because it is week 12 doesn't mean that drama is finished yet...... Scrooge:Thursday/4:30pm/Venue Twelve students from CS3 will be performing a modern take on Scrooge: A Christmas Carol this Thursday 13th at 4:30pm in the Venue. The play is only about 25 minutes long, and tells the heart-warming story of how the happiness of Christmas was brought back into Scrooge's life. It would be great if you could spare some time to come along to the show, it's not a DCU Drama production but features some veteran drama heads and is a nice bit of entertainment that will get you in the Christmassy mood! Hopefully see you there! Auditions:Tuesday 6-8 and Wednesday 2-6 CG01 Our very own Connor Lynch has written a play, which will be happening in semester two. A fairy tale comedy, i would recommend you all audition for it, as it is set to be a hilarious sendup of the traditional stories. Hey guys, Here are the minutes from last night's meeting, slightly shorter than usual, yay! Susan :-) DCU DRAMA COMMITTEE MEETING * * *Agenda: **Monday, December 3rd, 2007*** * * * * - Ratification of last meeting's minutes - Any matters arising from the minutes - Meet with producer and director - Arts Week - Panto - Christmas party - Broadway - Twelve Days of Christmas - Second semester - Campus blurb - AOB *Absent:* Megan *Meet with producer and director:* - John and Steve sat in on the beginning of this meeting - they're very excited about the musical - Week 9 is provisionally booked in the Helix for Fame - four shows: three evenings (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and one matinee (Wednesday) - Monday is the get-in day, with get-out on Thursday night - their preference would be Sunday get-in and four evening shows, with get-out on Thursday night - but this would have to go back to Josef Weinberger first *- Pauric to email Steve and John with exact dates of the Helix booking* *- Fiona to give John all correspondence with Weinberger about rights to Fame* - Steve is going to try and get Fame into the Helix brochure - ticket prices still need to be agreed upon *- Pauric and John to meet Molly Manning from the Helix later in the week* *- Alan to give Steve and John the dcu.musical(a)gmail.com password* - proposal from Steve to have himself or John as one of the signatories for drama cheques, as there will be a lot of cheques to sign for the musical - suggestion from Steve that we get a separate cheque book just for the musical - the only money they're asking for is funding to cover costs of phone calls - the tech is booked and will cost €3,000, €700 less than last year - they want to have their entire team together by the end of next week - they want to have a production team to support the producer, and plan to approach people other than the committee, so that the committee will be there as a back-up - they want to bring back some alumni for certain jobs, they won't be getting paid either - they want to get Roisin Cooper to be backstage manager and Lyndsey Fay to be cast manager, who will train in current students as well - they may be approaching some outside people for the band, but it will be mainly DCU students - they have a fourth year music student in mind for MD/vocal director, but if that falls through they plan to bring in a professional for the job - they want to have one main choreographer, hopefully a student, with assistant choreographers to look after individual dance scenes *- Pauric to give Steve and John Aoife Kearney's details* - they are going to advertise certain jobs in the allsoc mail - Steve and John will run everything by committee and keep us informed - they are going to advertise Fame as the DCU musical, as opposed to the DCU Drama musical, make it a student-wide event rather than just a student drama event * * *Arts Week:* - well done to everyone - every event went very smoothly * * *Panto:* - panto is going okay - tech is costing €1,320 *- Alan to make tickets and programme tonight* - the kids for the matinee may be double booked, Laura Power needs to let Pauric know what the story is * * *Christmas party:* - Thursday night after the last performance of the panto - Bob is going to be Santa - there will be a small charge in - costs are being shared between the three societies - we have been granted €100 for the party, not itemised - the party reps are meeting up on Wednesday to finalise everything * * *Broadway:* - only waiting for two names to be confirmed with exact spellings *- Susan to send on the names to Pauric and Jenni once the list is complete* *- Pauric to sort out tickets for the shows* * * *Twelve Days of Christmas:* - Karen Howley and Shea McNelis are organising a performance of the song - want drama to do five golden rings, have five guys dressed up as Gollum from Lord of the Rings - need five guys: Conor, Micheál, Cian, Adam and Brian? *- Pauric and Declan to approach these five guys* *- Susan to contact Karen Howley to let her know we're doing it* * * *Second semester:* *- Pauric and Jenni to sign a contract with the Helix on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week* - dates of events for next semester need to be decided - Week 2 or 3: Joey's and Brendan's plays may be on together in the Space - Week 4: Romeo and Juliet (3 nights) and Vagina Monologues (1 night) - Conor's play needs to be before Week 9, as early as possible, maybe Week 6 - Week 9: the musical - Robin wants to put his play on in Week 10 (except Thursday) or Week 11, it will be in the Venue - Week 11: variety show - Alan Flanagan may have a play as well - Brendan, Conor and Robin want to audition their plays in Week 12 of Semester One * * *Campus blurb:* - Karen is going to put in a review of the panto - also include thanking everyone for coming to the Christmas party, auditions for Week 12, and the fact that next semester will be fun-filled * * *AOB:* - equipment room clean out didn't happen last Friday because there were only two people there - just needs to be done before the end of semester - can throw out anything that we don't think we need for next semester *- everyone to clean it out next Monday morning, December 10th, at **10am*** *- Declan to make sure we have a key* - we won money for Open Day, we may be winning money for Arts Week, maybe we could have a committee night out - choose a date at the next meeting *Next meeting: **6pm**, **Monday, December 10th, 2007***

Hey Guys, Before i tell you about the amazing week we have in front of you,I would just like to thank everyone involved in Arts week. Athough one of the most stressful weeks for the committee,it was worth it to see how talented and dedicated our memebers are,so to everyone involved a huge pat on the back. But back to this week...............and there is only one thing that should be on your minds and that is............ Aladdin:Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday,The Venue,7:30pm,6 euro It's that time of year again............................... This years Panto will be Aladdin and is set to be one of the funniest production of the year.Based in inner city Dublin,our relucant hero Aladdin will have to overcome a multitude of obstacles, in particular the nefarious schemes of the evil Abanazer, in order to get the "ryde" of Jasmin. Our fantastic first year rep,Marina Hughes,will be making her directorial debut,while drama veterans Niamh Maher and Megan O'Riordan will be producing and choregraphing,respectively. This year the panto will be taking place in Week Eleven,in the Venue with evening shows starting at 7:30 on Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday.There will be also be a matinee show at four on Wednesday.Tickets will be 6 euro. Once more this years Panto will be done in association with SVP,with the local Ballymun kids coming into see the Wednesday matinee show for free.Alsoone euro from every tickets will be going to charity So come one come all and prepare to be blown away. Xmas Party:Thursday/10pm/The Slipper To celebrate a fantastic semester in Drama,we will be holding a Christmas party in association with Games Soc and Redbrick.
