Broadway:
-GER needs to send an email to tell Broadway people to be in CG06 from 1pm
to 3pm on Friday with 350e and their passports. Ask people what shows they
want to see also.
-Pauric will forward on last years hand book which will need to be updated
-The new form for travelling in the USA becomes available from January 11th
so the link will be sent around from then.
Christmas Party:
- Conor met with style and dance the other day. They booked the Old Bar for
Tuesday 16th December. They are thinking about doing a ?sexy Santa? theme
and charge 3e in for presents or some drink promotions.
- He is arranging another meeting for this Thursday at 2pm for whoever wants
to come.
Weekend Incident and Stars Incident:
-For those who don?t know, last weekend landed us in a fair bit of trouble.
We expected to be allowed into the venue for both Saturday and Sunday for
panto rehearsals but new rules had come in, and we were locked out by security.
In desperation to get a tech run through done, Ed and Alan approached the
president of the college, Ferdinand and asked him if he could do anything
about getting them into the Hub which he did. Subsequently, the head of security
Ray Wheelie (?), Niall McLave, Shay McNelis, Eimear Fitzmaurice and many
others aren?t happy with drama for over stepping the mark. We did not have
the venue booked and were not aware of the new system, and it was a huge
mistake to do what was done.
Ed and Alan will have to apologise to those people who were involved and
Ger will have to email Ferdinand and explain to him the situation. This incident
may have consequences detrimental to not only our society, but other societies
which we should be aware of and be able to take any punishment given, and
also be prepared to apologise to other societies.
- On another note, Ger and other committee members should have been made
aware of the situation as soon as anyone knew about it, and committee members
present on the day should have made greater efforts to stop the incident
happening. Overall communication has to be improved, committee need to be
on the ball and aware of things that could further taint drama?s name and
cause damage to further events, like the musical.
-If anyone brings it up, only the following should be addressed:
We made a mistake. We took unnecessary actions out of desperation and we
are truly sorry for any repercussions it has on societies in DCU.
Stars Incident:
- After Stars, Dec was approached by Shay who said that someone had glued
the stars to the curtains. He asked a number of other people in the society
and did not directly approach the producers.
- Sinead decided to approach Shay herself and told him that she and Adam
had attached the stars with a staple gun and nothing with adhesive was used
to secure them. Shay still did not accept this and said that once he gets
a quote for the cleaning of the curtains he will talk to drama (implying
that we will be paying for them).
-Bottom line- we didn?t use glue, we shouldn?t be billed. The glue stains
were not in the position of the stars and we can show him photos of the set
to prove this.
Rent Auditions:
- Ger will send out an email tomorrow, once he knows that John is home for
Thailand. They will take place next Wednesday from 2pm to 9pm and Thursday
from 5pm to 10pm.
- John only wants to hear singers and he wants to hear them sing Rent songs.
ED will put the songs and lyrics on the website and Ger will send this information
around in the email too.
- Dec met with Andrew who he said sounds good, but that should be the directors
decision, a meeting needs to be arranged for the two of them.
- GER needs to text Kerrie, a potential choreographer to arrange a meeting.
- A meeting with Bob needs to be arranged over the weekend.
General Mistakes:
- Dec felt that some issues needed to be addressed:
Cian- what went wrong with the posters?
He was sending them to the wrong address; he admits he dropped the ball and
did not follow up. It has been amended and he is now using a USB key.
Adam- what happened with the lighting desk?
He has contacted a number of companies in Ireland for the mouse, the website
don?t sell them. He needs to go into the Stage Lighting Centre in town and
get it or get them to order it for him.
The issue with the spots were that there were too many people involved. All
tech issues and plans MUST go through Adam regardless of who the director
has asked to help.
We need to organise a director/producer check-list and go through it with
them at the interview stage.
Second Semester:
- Shakespeare play: GER will arrange a meeting with Conor and the first year
this week.
- Someone has said they are in the process of writing a play.
- If Conor doesn?t get the Shakespeare, he will put on something anyway.
- Strictly come Dancing show with dance involving SU for charity
- DCU?s got talent: E+S want to do a show with us, they would be funding
it and we would be providing the talent. We could use other societies to
get the word out.
- Pauric wants to do a play through workshops.
- Pillow man and the Vagina Monologues will hopefully be in week 3, using
the space if Pauric doesn?t need 4 days.
- Rebecca and her friends want to come over week 1 of semester 2 to do a
musical showcase, improv showcase and some workshops. We would need to pay
for their flights which would be between 60 and 80 per person. We could charge
3e into the show and 1e for the workshops, and could also apply for funding
for their flights from the Grant app. Is it going to work out as a loss and
will there be enough demand?
- We need to start thinking of ways to fund-raise for Rent. Most supermarkets
only take charities. Suggestions were made for a sponsored event like a 24hr
sing along, race nights, casino nights etc?
- Table quizzes, charging into the night of the musical show case or having
a sing along even at the cinema.
- EVERYONE needs to be thinking of cheap ways to make money and we will nail
down ideas next meeting.
