Hello All, First and foremost thank you very much for appointing me. Secondly and down to business, The following is my *proposed* production team. I would like to make a brief appearance at your committee meeting tomorrow to discuss all of your thoughts and views on this proposed team. If your name is on the list, I have asked you for a reason so please consider strongly taking the position. I am saying that the only positions that will not be allowed par take in the show as well as being on the production team are The Director, Producer and MD; Rebbecca, myself and Kevin. Everyone else is free to audition for the show. #1 Proposed Production Team. *Director:* Rebbecca Hickey *Producer:* Ed Leamy *MD & Chorus Master: *Kevin Walsh ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Choreographer:* Kerrie would be fantastic if not enter dance soc. Rebbecca will be having a lot of dance input as well maybe even take the position and get someone to run the dances. I don't know yet. *Assistant Director:* Emma (girl who directed spring) *Associate Producer:* Maeve McQuillan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Prduction Manager:* Ed Leamy *Assistant Producers*: (Short List) Conor Tweed, Sinead, Maeve, Carpet Cullen, Conor McErlean (Wally), Ger Collis, Emma (girl who directed spring), Oisin Kelly, Dave O Shaughnessy, Mark Flynn, Jodi and Holly. Minimum 4, Maximum - We can't really have enough. *PRO Interal and External: * Ed, Blaithín, Dave O Shaughnessy, all assistent producers, eager communication students not neccesarily in drama who study PR, Mark Doyle, I am hopefull the new year will bring a Rejuvenated Cian Markey. Helping with Dublin PR - Ed/Bob/Niamh Maher/The Helix (Its about time they wake up and start promoting things properly like the Olympia) Helping with Limerick PR - Thomas Leamy Helping with Cork PR - Shelly Helping with Belfast PR - We'll have to rely on AIMS for this. Helping with Galway PR - Lee Anne Helping with Daaahford PR - am.. Waterford Local Radio. Helping with Tipperary PR - Ed/Christine ***Sponsorship:* Ed, Shelly, Michael McHugh, Fiona Carty and Brian Moloney. * Finances: * Ed and Jenni. *Set Design:* Is Jenni up for this too?.. Or is 5 in a row too much?.. :O An able alternative suggestion I don't have... ? I dont want to hear Art Soc. This is beyond them. *Set Construction: * Ed Leamy, John Cannon, Alan Keegan, Ciaran Callaghan, Conal McBride & Assorted team. *Backstage Manager: * I would like this position to be filled by either Pauric Carroll, Richard Ug, either Tweed or Ger Collis. I would also be open to getting Marie Cusack back from the Olympia if we can afford it. *Sound and Lighting:* Jody/Jay and Darren (Cost Dependant) *Sound and Lighting Operaters: * Jody/Jay and Alan Keegan/Carpet Cullen *Technical Adviser/what ever he was last year.. with less attitude:* John Cannon *Barry Cannon:* No real title but the fact that he is doing no module this semester and one next.. Means I will coax him into doing as much as I can!.. (may require funding for dynamite) *Props Sourcer:* I would really like the Legendary Lee Anne again. JD Quote from mid production last year: " Jaysus if we had 10 Lee Annes, this show would have been on Broadway 3 months ago".. she's a trooper! *Props Manager:* Lee Anne if she has the time. If not I'm open to suggestions. Perhaps Richard Ug. *Costume Manager:* I think Rebecca has someone in mind. *Webmaster/Facebook Admin: *The brave and noble Oisin *Photographer:* Rob Walsh * Programme Design: * Melanie Farrell, John Stone or Brendan O' Rourke. *Projection Artist (If Required):* No one wearing a french hat. *Production Supervisor: * This is a new position I would like to bring in. Basically along with myself, the production supervisor will make sure every one is carrying out there job to the best of there ability and if they are not.. replace them. I would like Sinead to accept this position.. *Thorn in side of Valerie Davvitts:* I will be taking this position.. I have missed her immensely. *Committee Liaison: * Sinead *Helix Liaison: * Ed. I have missed that shower too. *Band: * Its great Kevin is back and in good form. My hope is that Kevin can act as MD and Chorusmaster. Regards band members, music soc are very alive and talented this year which is promising and would be free.. Apart from that.. I know all the band from last year who were great and no doubt would be willing again. We may need a conductor. That is Kevin's choice. *Aims Liaison: * Rock Kelly & Mighty Maeve. Requires a nice bit of office work!.. sending letters to musical societies and so forth. *Backstage Crew & Mic Dressers: * Needs to be assertive and take no crap. Also needs to be VERY organised. Will need a good crew, especially if they are going to be pseudo-cast members going on and off stage, in addition to setting up props and changing radio mics. Must enter at the speed of light and exit at the speed of dark. *DCU officer:* Ed. I will be trying to get DCU completely behind HAIR and to help. The Union, The SPC, Shea, Marie Louise, Ferdiand and Conry aswell as DCUFM and TV. This is my proposed team and I am anxious to hear your thoughts and opinions at tomorrows meeting. I did not put anyone I feel is unreliable on it so hopefully we can move on from here. Maeve if you could make a copy of this for each committee member that would be fantastic. Dear Committee, I hope al is well in committee land. I would like to produce the musical if the offer is still there. If chosen, I will fully commit to it as producer. Time constraints should not be a worry to me after Christmas, even with CA Intra likely to start the second week of April (assuming i get grinds in time management!.. Sinead, if you have a spare few minutes???). Before exams they are however. Unlike last year I would need support in all aspects of production and will need the committee to be fully behind the production side of things and ready to help. The work load will get immense and with Bobby boy not around, there is going to be a lot of off campus stuff to look after aswell. I would like to choose a production team and get the committees approval on it. My other previous concern was working with the director. I have made no secret of the fact that I was team Donnelly but what's done is done. I am a friend of rebeccas and know her ways well but have never worked with her on such a large scale for anything before. My worries lie in the fact that in previous plays, musicals and pantos she proved to be a fair bit of an annoyance to me to be honest!.. I would do my best to look beyond this and no doubt everything would be rosey.. however, if she starts having D4 needy moments or trys to increase the amount of naked cast from 6 to 100 and Collis ain't around, I will be picking up my 089 device and calling a Tweed!.. Full stop!.. Actually it'll have to be you Jenni. Conor is on 083 and tesco mobile prohibit us from calling those chancers for our own safety. If it's a 'need an ambulance' situation or I'm really really stuck, I will use my financial imploder of an O2 phone as a last resort (every offense Maeve). I am excited about the possibility of getting descretionary funding (separate to sponsorship) from the university through Martin Conry whom I have chatted to about the notion of securing already. If he starts to back down, we can fire the torpedo that is Marie-Louise and watch him beg for mercy! (The money is there if looked for!.. Just like John McKeown got 12k for six semesters from DCU) This together with the fact that there is about to be an appointment of a new helix CEO whom Una Redmond has informed me is introducing a cut down society usage rate (and ye didn't sign anything yet... :-| ?) means that this show could have very handsome financial backing. Also with the genius that is Kevin back at the helm and the re emergence of music soc, the band situation looks healthy. With all this in consideration and given the talent in this place.. It can really only be, if nothing else... an epic show of massive proportions! :D It was an awful lot of work last year but at the end of the day.. What we achieved with RENT x2 and even FAME the year before was something special which we are going to have forever to say we were a part of :) In many years time we will have forgotton 90% of the manure we learn in college but I bet you we'll have helix memories forever and a life time! I feel like melted cheese. Now, lets make HAIR follow those previous shows footsteps only lets make bigger ones!.. There is every reason we can. Drama can and Drama will because at the end of the day, when all is spoken and finished.. There is no better society! Roasted cheese now. Time to stop typing. Please let me know your decision. Howdy, This is just regarding an upcoming event that is being organised for next Thursday. The event kicks off at 6 and involves each club or society selecting 3 memembers to compete for their club or society. There will be a grand prize and spot prizes on the night. It is a simple enough event aimed at friendly competition and is free. If you have any questions feel free to ask, and of course all suggestions are more than welcome. Hey Guys. My name is Gary and I'm chair of DCU ArtSoc. As you may or may not know, Arts week is in week 10 this semester, We're looking for clubs and societies to get involved in Arts Week. We had over 15 clubs and socs taking part in over 30 events last year and it would be amazing to match or even top that! There will be a quick brainstorming session/information meeting next Tuesday at 1pm up in Clubs and Socs. also to make sure that everyone's events aren't clashing! Hey guys, MPS are hosting Society Fortunes on Wed 25th in the old Bar I'm writing to invite you and your socitiety to join in....Its gonna have basically the same set up and format as Vernon Kay's Family Fortunes from t.v. I f you havn't already seen it- check it out on YouTube! It's really good fun..... Two family teams, each with five members, would be asked to guess the answers to a of series of open ended questions eg. Name a game you would play in bed or name things a gf wouldn't let her bf do...... and so on..... Each round would begin with a member of each team approaching the podium. As the question was read, the first of the two nominees to hit a buzzer would give an answer. Each Team will be made up of 5 members, all from the committee, there has to be a "mammy" and a "daddy" and the "children" (So to speak!) It will be held in the old bar with seating for the audience at 8pm... The four societies chosen to compete against each other by MPS are: - Drama Soc - Style Soc - Music Soc - E & S Be a bit of craic and ya get to compete against other societies... Ruffle a few feathers!! Anyhuzzle, sure hit me back and let me know if you (and your society of course!) are interested in joining in and competeing... Hope to see you all there!! Hey guys, Conor and I met with two potential directors today. The first was Claire from theatreworx and the second was Rebecca Hicky. Claire was interested but expressed that she has a couple of productions running at the same time around April/ May. She has loads of experience but was not yet able to tell us her availability and told us to perhaps look at other options. We then met with Rebecca who blew us away. She spoke about her experience working with some of the top West End directors and production teams in Arts Ed. She had loads of ideas with regards to staging, the production itself, how to get the most out of auditions and the cast. She clearly spent time thinking about the production and even addressed the race issue (which she says shouldn't be a problem) She assured us that this would be her main focus and didn't have any other projects. She spoke at length about the training and experience she has gained and could pass on to us. Myself and Conor think this is a unique chance to work with someone who is not only more than capable to produce an amazing show, but to also give our members the inside knowledge they just wouldn't get with another director. Conor and I are happy to offer her the position and would like to do so by the end of the week. Please email us feedback or any questions about the meeting. Does anyone have any objections?? Hey Guys, Just an update on the director situation. Rebecca (Ger's girlfriend) is gonna meet with us this week, thanks to Christine for this. Also Claire, from Theatre Worx is going to meet with myself and Conor too. She's currently doing the panto in the Helix and is supposed to be excellent- I think she's a choreographer too! If anyone wants to add to this let me know. I've been trying to get in contact with other directors but haven't heard anything back yet.
