[Drama-Committee] Those ANTO Awards in full / Signature Sheets / Rehearsals
by RENT 2009 Production Team 01 Apr '09
by RENT 2009 Production Team 01 Apr '09

Oh my bloody head.
Why did I have to be in work at 9 this morning? (well, 9-ish, at any
rate...)
Thanks a million to all of you that came out last night - it was a brillo
night, full of laughter, the odd tear and some fantastic gifts and awards!
Honestly, there was no need - doing RENT was reward enough :)
To those that couldn't be there, you were absent, but certainly not
forgotten! **distance hug**
*
*I've attached a PDF of the signature sheets that were passed around last
night - there's some heart-warming sentiments on there, and thank you all so
much for sharing your thoughts - they'll look great in the scrapbook!
Roysh, down to business. We, as you must know by now, have been asked to do
a performance for the Clubs & Socs Awards on *Wednesday 8th April* - that's
this day week! Eeeek etc!
We have been asked to do a big, full-cast, all-singing & dancing number, and
the suggestions have so far been:
- "Rent" seguing into "I'll Cover You (Reprise)"
- "Seasons Of Love"
- "Christmas Bells"
- a shortened version of "La Vie Boheme" (leaving out the Mimi/Roger bit)
>From talking to the cast last night and in the past few days, people aren't
pushed on doing two songs, "Seasons Of Love" is too short and "Christmas
Bells" is both a little seasonal and a props nightmare. The frontrunner is
the edited "La Vie Boheme" - it involves the entire cast, only needs tables
& chairs and is a big rollicking number. So would it be safe to say we'll go
with that?
*Pending John & Kevin's availability*, I'd like to call rehearsals for *this
Sunday at 4pm* in the Henry Grattan Building, and another on Monday evening,
if necessary - we'll decide that on Sunday.
We'll be doing the song to a backing track, and I should have that sorted
out for you over the next day or so. It'll be "La Vie Boheme" and "La Vie
Boheme B" spliced together, just without the Roger/Mimi bit in the middle.
You will be wearing mics, DCU Drama only has 16 of them, so the rest of you
will have to SING UP!
I'll be in touch to confirm the rehearsals - please consider these AS
IMPORTANT AS A DRESS REHEARSAL, as you will be performing to over 400 people
on the night. *RENT is nominated for DCU Society Event of the Year - so
let's show them why!*
I've also added the complete nominations and winners (*in bold*) for this
year's ANTO Awards (like the TONYs, only not as posh). Well done to all the
