*Hope all is well with all. The following is a query which was sent through the website. A man called Jim Hawkins wants to know if DCU Drama would be interested in shooting a video of a drama piece **by local Finglas author Amanda Flood. It seems like a promising proposition as he requires our members for acting and crew work only while the organising side of things will be in his hands. Therefore I'd imagine the project will not be that time consuming in that regard. We will discuss this Monday but just to give you all a heads up I said I'd send it out. Details below. * *Take Care,* ** *Ed.* ** ** *As someone who is interested in cinema I would like to take on this project with the help of your group in the acting and crewing departments. I can supply all high end vision and sound recording equipment.* *This is an opportunity which might appeal to your members as I would share the various functions with interested students.* *The end use of the piece is for submission in film drama competition categories and possible broadcast opportunities. The submissions could be entered under the DCU banner if your group approved the final production.* *As I am supplying my own services and equipment there is no funding required to run this project. Hey guys, Heres fridays minutes. Next offical meeting will be fridat at 2pm. Barry suggested a meeting on tuesday, could people email me availability? And Barry could you put together some kind of agenda because I dont know what will be needed. Cheers, Sinead. Committee Meeting, 24th October 2008. One Acts: -Dec said we should encourage all directors to be up to date on their one act. -Pauric will be starting workshops next week for Play in a Day. -An unnamed 1st year has a one act. It will need to be cast ASAP. Fill Monty: -A bill for 200e has arrived from a construction company. We should pay them ASAP. One Flew Over the Cuckoo?s Nest: -Being put on in AXIS, given a concession ticket. Pauric and Blaithin will try organise a trip. Lighting Desk: -It has arrived in Adams house. He thinks he has a case for it, we will need a lock as well. AOB: -Pauric needs to send the 90e away for Pillow Man. -Also, he suggested getting a professional director to do a play in the second semester. All agreed it would be a good idea but will depend on what we do with Rent. RENT: - Dec, Pauric and Ger met with Bob. They agreed that he was ok and said he would be a 6/10 director, but wouldn?t be exceptional. -We have not yet decided if we will blow all our money on a professional director and professional music director. Is it needed? -We will all look into finding directors and musical directors. Dec will ask Marie-Louise, Conor will ask Alan Keegan. Ed will get onto the Helix too. -Deadline for people will be at the next meeting which is Friday 31st at 2pm. -Production will be decided once others are asked but we all agreed that there should be a head of production and then a head of each section. (as follows) Tech and Lighting- Jay Ads and Sponsorship- Eimear and Ciara PR- John?( Barry will ask him) Web-ED Set- Head maybe Conor, who will liaise with Art Soc and get 1st years to help. Nest email will have proposition for 1st years and we will ask Art to do the same. (- We decided that we will use potential set designers and Art Soc to design and make the set for Stars. ) Auditions- Need to be done before Christmas, decided week 11 and will try and get the Venue for this. We wont have the script by then but Dec is going to Fake apply for the rights and then photocopy it. It was mentioned that Alan may have one. Choreography: Aoife Kearney was mentioned, but Sinead will ask Dance Soc too. Posters- Decided to have ?coming soon? posters around the place. Ger is asking Rebecca and friends to come over and perform and have a question section. ?A night with the West End? kind of thing?? This weeks minutes..sorry for lateness,its been mad! Meeting friday at 2pm meet in street. Mail me agenda stuff Cheers! DCU DRAMA COMMITTEE MEETING Agenda: Monday, October 20th, 2008 ? Ratification of last meeting?s minutes ? Any matters arising from the minutes ? Jackle and Hyde ? Hoodies ? Clubs and Socs Ball ? Auditions ? Panto Director ? Six Semester ? ?The Lighting desk? ? RENT Information ? ?Communication? ? AOB Jackal and Hyde: - It?s on the 21st till the 26th October so it would be too short notice. - Blaithin will organize a first year outing, Pauric said he will help her. - We have applied for ticket funding in our grant app for 6 shows so there will be a good discount if we get good numbers. Hoodies: - We?re going to take names and then order them with other societies so they will be cheaper. - They shoud be around 22e and we will put ?hoodies? in the next email. Clubs and Socs ball: - Conor already bought our quota. Deducting the amount for the committee there will be 26 to sell which will be done on Wednesday before auditions. Auditions: -Cian is doing a one act, and Conor wrote one in a night so they will both be auditioning along with Stars and the panto. Shaun and Wiv have written one each but are both pre-casted. -Pillow man will be auditioned too. Panto Director: -Holly Traynor is the director, Alan is the producer and Stevi and Sinead are the choreographers. -Jack will help with the tech -Carly can assist Alan -A couple of first years are interested in set design so they all can help out. Six Semesters: -Remind people at auditions. -3e entry fee. The Lighting Desk: - Adam got a call to tell us that they got his address wrong, but it is in Ireland. - We talked about where we will keep it and decided that we will either lock it up or keep it in the lads? apartment until we find a better place. - Connor applied for funding in the grant app but doesn?t know it we?ll get it. RENT Informtation: -Ciara wants to put together a portfolio for rent and fame. She needs to speak with John about fame. Ed will mail her the stuff he has on sponsorship for the website. -A lot of discussion went on about the production of rent so we will have a meeting about it on Friday at 2pm (meet in street) Matters to be discussed are: Director Producer Musical Director Auditions Marketing Choreographer Set Tech and Lighting Miscellaneous. Communications: -A lot of people don?t know what?s going on between meetings so keep the committee up to date with emails. AOB: -Need to start thinking about panto set. -New drama boards will be ordered soon. -Conor will ask Jen to do panto set -Adam wants to send around an email about teck and will do workshops on lighting, sound and then a general one. [Drama-Committee] Style Soc Trashion Show

Hi all, Style Soc and the Students Union are organising a Trashion Show in conjunction with Green Week. We want as many clubs and societies to get involved as possible. Basically the idea is to create an outfit out of recycled materials. We will provide as much of the material as possible but if you've got anything that would make a good outfit make sure to bring it along. So after the outfit is made, there will be a catwalk set up in the bar for you to display your artistic talents. If any society wants to get involved can you organise a team of 5/6. There will be spot prizes of wine and top prizes of Halloween Ball tickets. The event is on Tuesday 21st Oct starts at 6 in the Old Bar and the Catwalk walk off is at 8.
