HELLO PEOPLE'S!!! I am delighted to say that we have reduced that Drama debt by 25% €1,958.01 raised over the three days!!! Joey going to organize the nexy bagpack and this time it would be nice to see more (all, if possible) of the committee there. For example: Anne (John's ladyfriend) was at EVERY BAGPACK from beginning to end. She is neither a drama student nor a DCU student!!! I mean if someone like that is willing to make the effort, then I think that we should too. I will also point out that she had to work nights after EACH of those bagpacks, so she got fuck all rest!!! We all know the date of the next bagpack so I think it would be good order for you to call work NOW and tell them you're unavailable for work on those dates. As for everyone who did show up, thanks and well done. John is going to send a thank you to Jervis saying we raised two grand and I think we should also mention them in one-line in each of our programs. Joey, my debts are all cleared now. Steve out P.S. Hi, I was wondering if you can pass this on to any of your members that might be intrested, the Pioneer Musical & Dramatic Society are putting on Calamity Jane at the end of September in the Draiocht in Blanch (Please note you dont have to be a Pioneer). Calamity Jane a lady with a big personality – and boy, does she need it! Living in the town of Deadwood she's one of the original hard talking, hard drinking women surviving in a man's world! On foot of a bet at the local saloon, the Golden Garter, Calam travels to Chigago to bring back the actress Adelaide Adams to grace the stage at Deadwood. However, in a case of mistaken identity Calam returns with Katy, the actress's former maid. The two girls become firm friends - that is, until young Katy's feminine charms begin to appeal to the gentlemen of Deadwood – and in particular to a certain Lieut. Danny Gilmartin, a dashing young cavalry officer stationed at the local fort. All ends happily though when Calam finally discovers that she's been in love with the leading man, Wild Bill Hickock, all the time! Along the way the score is peppered with standards such as the Deadwood stage; Higher than a hawk, Secret Love, and the Black Hills of Dakota.

[Drama-Committee] Charity Bag Pack... VOTE NEEDED!!!

Hey guys, I was trying to think of some selling points for the bag pack, because from my experience of bagpacking (three years... grrr...) it is ALWAYS necessary to seem like your doing it for a really justified cause. So I was thinking, (and I've discussed this with a few of you already), that perhaps we should do the musical this year in aid of some charity. There are a few reasons for this. 1.) We are non-profit making society, so why not give all our remaining cash/funds away at the end of the year? 2.) Last year's musical lost money, but I think we've learned from these mistakes and if we follow Style Soc's footsteps of a charity event, I think we will sell more tickets and thus make profit and therein 'raise money for charity.' 3.) In terms of bagpacking, we can say (honestly) 'Well, yes we are a student organization, but at the end of the year we hold a charity fundraiser show and donate all our funds to charity... blah blah blah.' Realistically, this goes a long way in getting people to give more money at a bag pack. 4.) To emphisize, we are a non-profit organization and I see no reason why not to do the musical in aid of charity, because 'in fairness' it will most likely be the last thing we do next year (like it was this year) and thus the 'best time' to donate to charity. 5.) It will be ALOT easier for the PRO to sell the musical if its a charity fundraiser. 6.) Lastly, after being on committee last year and hearing all the talk of a charity fundraiser for 'this and that,' I was disappointed when we failed to deliver and I think its something that this years committee could work to improve/explore/whatever... Anyway, to sum up... Charity = Bums on seats + More Donations = Better show So in my thinking... we get a bigger better musical and the charity make money... it is a win-win situation. Anyway, I wanted to open this up to discussion, and if people are in favour/against to vote on it via e-mail. I would ask people to try and limit they're e-mails (cus we know how that turns out!) Anyway, my vote doesn't count (unless its a deciding vote) so... Okay drama peoples, For those who haven't been informed, DCU Drama are 8 grand in debt... that's €8000... that's the equivalent to hoaring yourself out to 80 chicks at €100 each (or 8 ugly chicks at €1000 each) Basically, if we don't raise the money, we will be audited next year...which means like, they count the pennies and don't let us put on any shows... which KINDA leaves DCU Drama doing uh, nothing... (actually, to elaborate... this means: NO trips away, NO shows, NO fun whatsoever) So, we don't want that... So, the committee has found some solutions, namely 'Bag-packing' in various shopping centres. For those who don't know what bag packing is, (daLLan) it is where we pack peoples shopping and in return they donate some money to DCU Drama. Its a great money raiser and should be quite the laff. SO I'm asking people to volunteer their time to raise funds for DCU Drama! Ahoy Campers! It is with a heavy heart that I write this email, my very last as chair of DCU Drama (yes, I know the changeover date was the 1st, shuddup.) Just a few things: After I send this email, I'm gonna remove myself and the outgoing committee (sniff!) from the committee mailing list. I'm also gonna remove myself as administrator for the committee list, the announce-drama list (but not the alumni list, what the hell, I'm gonna be an alumni before I know it...). I'm gonna make Steve the admin for all of those lists, and then it's up to you guys if you also wanna make John / Eoin / Conor / whoever an admin also. The passwords should be changed too. The password(s) for nearly all of the drama-related lists are either: pukebush puke-bush puketree puke-tree ...you see where I'm going here. The very best of luck in the year ahead you guys! It feels weird though; this is the first time I've been at DCU and NOT been on drama committee. I don't know what to do with myself! Hey peoples, Rang Jervis to confirm bagpack and check out till numbers. Its only 7 tills, so we should be grand for that. BUT the person I was talking to was telling me that Friday is a crap day for bag packing, she said that we'd be better off with... Thurs 13th from 4pm-9pm Sat 15th from 10am - 7pm Sun 16th from 12 - 6:30pm So its still three days, and sunday would prob be better for it anyway (she said its usually packed on a sunday). That cool and the gang? I'm gonna ring round the committee and others tonight to get helpers, could you guys e-mail me about times you can do???
