2008/11/2 DCU Drama <dcudrama@gmail.com>
Welcome dramaites to the weekly drama email. I hope great fun was had by all over the weekend with All Hallows Eve and all that jazz. Pleasantries over and now on to the great fun and excitement we have planned for you this week...prepare yourself.

Lovely One Acts Festival (or the L.O.A.F.S if you will (don't ask where the extra "s" comes from at the end (its artistic license o.k!!!)))

So here we are, an institute of the DCU Drama calender, the Lovely One Acts Festival is always sure to throw up a variety....no wait a gaggle, a cornucopia, a murder if you will of interesting drama's in one brilliant evening. This takes place at 7 o'clock on Wednesday in The Venue. Tickets are but a snip at 3 euro. Here's a short overview of what you can expect.

Buyer's Market
A comedy directed by and starring two drama veterans Yvonne Keane and Joey Kavanagh.

Singulatitis

Directed by Cian Markey and starring a cast of first years, this one act tells the story of a man with the debilitating disease PHS (or Permanent Hiccup Syndrome)

This Might Be a Kodak Moment
In this One Act we encounter the relationship of Frank and Lindsay. Written and directed by second year drama member Shaun Dunne, this is sure to be an interesting and different play.

Twenty past eleven, the night before the auditions!

The title says it all really, we challenged Conor Lynch to write a play the day before the auditions and so he did. Certain hilarity will ensue!

And if thats not enough for one night we give you....

PLAY IN A DAY
Yes Drama folk after being such a success last year Play in a Day is back.
Created and run by our very own beautiful training officer Pauric Carroll this is for first years only and is a great chance to get involved in drama (and without all that rigmoralle of auditions and all).

It pretty much does what it says on the tin, a bunch of first years will meet up on Tuesday afternoon and by Wednesday night at the L.O.A.F.S a play will have been produced directed acted in what is surely the most unique event of the drama year. Pauric will be running a workshop in cg11 on Tuesday evening at 6 o'clock to get you started and it'll continue at 3 o'clock on Wednesday.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
On Thursday coming Drama will be making our first of many theatre trips this year. We will be heading down to the Axis Theatre in Ballymun for a performance of Ken Kasey's classic story One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (remember that film what Jack Nicholson was in....like that but on a stage). We will be selling tickets on a first come first serve basis so if you're in interested throw us an email at dcudrama@gmail.com. The play begins at 8 o'clock and we'll be meeting in the Hub at around 7.30 to head on down. Tickets are 12 euro.

Dance Workshop
But wait....not into one jumped over a cuckoo's house thing.....well this Thursday Drama will also be running its first dance workshop of the year run by our very own Stevi Russell. So dust off your dancin' shoes and come to the Seminar Room (upstairs in the Hub) at 7.30 on Thursday for whats sure to be a fun filled workshop!

Clubs and Socs Ball
One last tiny thing. For those of you coming to the Clubs and Socs ball this Tuesday with Drama, we shall be meeting at 5.15 in the Hub to get the bus out to the CityWest and hopefully avail of some of that free wine before it's all destroyed.

Well damn if you don't just cream yourself to all that excitement we have ahead of ourselves this week. Well that's all from me for now anyway, hopefully I'll see you all at some stage this week!

Vice Chair Out!
