well dave that was what was said at the meeting. but i subsequently found out in an email that the bar was booked out which left me with the immpression that prizes would not be needed as there was no karaoke and i wasn't told otherwise

Actually, that's not what happened at all. As of the last meeting, we were
still working under the assumption we'd have a karoke, wherein I also said
that we always needed prizes and to get as much as you could because we always
use them. No matter, we'll sort something out.
