I I really don't think you should send it because ,despite his naivity in certain areas, he is, like anyone in his position would be, just trying to find out how he can best put a show on. He's obviously very passionate about it and has clearly put a huge amount of effort into his proposal. To respond to this effort with an email which is both condescending and in parts unfair would not really be in keeping with the "we?re so approachable and willing to help you out" spiel. Obviously I don?t think this was your intention but it does come across that way. I know we?ve given the guy a chance but still I do think we?re being a bit harsh on him, and to me it looks like it?s more of an effort to dissuade him completely than anything else. For example: your response to the steps he requires at the front of the stage are hardly reasonable, steps can consist of a few painted bricks if needs be, he?s not looking for a staircase, never mind one worth 1,500 euro as quoted. If he?s not prepared to accept that the "venue" is the only stage available to him ,well fine, he can go elsewhere but apart from that I don?t think we should be so incredibly restrictive - sets are very important and if he wants to construct a good one at a reasonable cost then why not. In any case, the set he?s suggesting is pretty basic, this is a society whose basis is supposedly dramatics and if we aren?t willing to fund the construction of something that looks impressive for the play he?s trying to put on then what?s the point. I mean, and this is not a dig, you are spending 1000 on the rental of a screen which is fine and dandy, but what kind of a message does it give out to an enthusiastic member when we?re willing to fork out a grand for that while at the same time quibbling over the price of some steps. Hopefully this won?t turn into a petty and overheated war over nothing, because in the past when this has happened, sponsorship officers have been known to disappear?. and the poor girl she?s only new to the college, never mind the committee: do we really want her to suffer the same fate as Martin. There it is, I?ve said more than anyone ever thought I would. I can only hope that Mr. Considine is aware of what he?s started.

if my tone is too impatient or im looking too unoptimistic about the whole thing then by all means but i though you should have a look at it before its sent to him.
I think he's being very unrealistic about the whole thing but if he feels that he can put 100% into it I would encourage it only on the provision that he gets a production team togeather during the first semester.
