Role Of Producer:

Their may have been a miscommunication into the role of producer and diretor,this needs to be sorted out as soon s possible.This is the way that DCU drama want the relationship to run.Infringement on the directors role.

The job of the director is to get his vision on stage and the job of the producer is to help him achieve this within reason and the budget.

Creative Team:

Director:

The producer of the show should advertise the post of the director,the producer arrange to receive their CV's and have a meeting with the candidates.She should pass her perference onto the committee an taking the producer preference to heart,a decision should be made.The director of the show should be picked first as he will need to be involved in the process of creating a team he is comfortable with.

Choregrapher:

Once more the position of choregrapher should be advertised within DCU Drama,the producer should receive their Cv and arrange to meet each candidate with the Director.In a show like Fame,the director will have to have the final say I his choregrapher.

Musical Director:

This should be the only professional post filled.The producer should get in contact with the Musical directors,organise a meeting with her director.the director will have final say in the choosing of his msicl director,although the producer should be consulted.

Tech Team:

The producer must arrange Tech Team;this includes the backstage manager,lighting and sound technicans.If the producer has to hire in a professional,this should be passed by the committee first.

Auditioning and Casting:

The producer should organise the rooms in which auditions are taking place, any music that may need to be supplied and a time that both suits DCU Drama and the director.

Casting is up to the director and his creative team.

Purchasing Rights:

In most case's the producer would purchase the rights to the show,however since we have decided on this musical since the start of the summer,we have arranged this for you.The scripts will be arriving two weeks before auditions,as of our agreement with Samuel French.

Booking of the Venue:

In most other shows the producer would book the venue and the date but in this situation the drama committee has taken care of it.

The show will be taking place in the Theatre of the Helix,in week nine of the academic year.The dates are as follows,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday at 8pm,with matinee's to be decided.The dates for this are as follows,1-3 April.

Marketing:

Producer is in sole charge of the marketing of the show,she has a set budget to work with,again all fee's should be passed through the Treasurer,Chair,Vice-Chair,as they are the only people able to signs the cheque's.

Unusually marketing/promotional schemes should be passed through the committee.As this show will be carrying the DCU Drama stamp we have to be sure that we are happy with the image it is conveying and whether it reflects well on us.

The producer will look after the design of the poster and merchanise,ie t-shirts and flyers,however these must meet the approval of the director.

Costumes/Props:

The Producer should organise costumes and props,as of the wish of the director. The receipts of which will have t be passed on to the treasure.

The producer should organise someone to take care of these two aspects of the production.

Set Design:

The producer is in charge of  getting the director vision on stage,she will arrange the set and people involved in creating the set.
