Heya guys,
Just thought I'd sort out some stuff before I head off to the good ole' US of A tomorrow afternoon!
Firstly, preparations for the musical are going as well as can be expected! We have succeeded in booking the Helix for the first week in April next year (week 9)! Having checked the calendar, this week is ideal because it gives us a week of auditions and then 8 weeks to prepare the actual show. Talked to Elaine Bannon a few minutes ago - and she agreed on 4,000 Euro for the week - plus tech - which according to her should work out at around 2,800 Euro. The Helix booklet is printed seasonaly, so as soon as we get a show picked, we can send a provisional poster and a blurb into the helix marketing dept and there we have some pretty nice advertising....if I do say so myself.
As far as shows go - I plan on keeping in close contact with Alan (arent u lucky! haha....well maybe not...) and compiling separate presentations on each of the shows shortlisted! After I've sent them (by email...) to the committee...I think we should have a vote - maybe some time in early August! How does that sound to you guys? The earlier we have the show picked - the better!
As far as directors go - Ive been soo busy getting organised for America I havent looked at the DVDs that Liana gave me of Jamie who directed Nightmare before Christmas and the circus one - Barnum! She met with him and he seems very interested in working with DCU Drama! But that can be all looked at in August - I want everyone to meet him - maybe invite him to a meeting. Its a big step getting a new director and trusting him with that much money ya know!
Sponsorship wise - Im taking on board John's suggestions and Im gonna spend most of July looking up contact details and working on the portfolio so its super tight! August I'll start calling people from America and arranging meetings for late August. When I have them set-up I'll send you guys a list of meetings and I'll take volunteers! Cant storm the castle on my own dontcha know! lol
Anywho - guys...have a great Summer! I wont be at the next few meetings - so apologies in advance!
