DCU DRAMA COMMITTEE MEETING
Agenda: Friday, May 25th, 2007
Absent: Megan
Chair's address to the committee:
- things that need to be said
- no private conversations during a meeting
- put up your hand to say something
- if you've something to say, say it
- only contribute if it's beneficial to the discussion
- don't repeat yourself
- attendance at meetings is essential
- respect each other
- speak to Pauric if you feel there's someone not pulling their weight
- make decisions based on what is best for the society, not yourself
- we're a committee but we're all friends too
- friendships have to be left at the door, but pick them up again when you're leaving J
- especially for the newbies: ask questions if you don't know
- the committee is a good mix of experience and fresh people
- newbies listen to the experience of the oldbies
- make your points during the actual discussion, don't bring it up again later unnecessarily, except in AOB
- don't take on something if you're too stressed, know your limits
Discussion of roles:
- hand out about the various roles on committee
- extra bits: PRO to send a weekly blurb into Campus
- ELO should help with bringing in outside audiences, for example kids for the panto and school students for Shakespeare
- Steve suggests we set up a big board that details what's coming up next in drama: job for the PRO
- everyone helps with regular poster boards
- Alan K suggests the PRO could have a template for all drama posters, but Conor says that maybe that might take away from the uniqueness of the posters
- posters are mainly the PRO's job, but they are a good way to get the membership involved
- Training Officer will organise a workshop for every week, doesn't always have to be a professional, just make sure it's the same day each week
- big emphasis on tech workshops, Jay Fallon could do one
- workshops could last up to two hours, do them in the Venue
- people from the workshops could sit in during actual shows, watch and learn
- Pauric to send out an announce drama, include the Bebo drama band link
