To Ed and The Committee, I am surprised that we have not even begun and although we are doing the same rehearsal schedule as previous years, this seems to be a problem for The Committee. I have no interest in having a back and forth argument with anyone on the Committee. As Ed has put across below, The Production Team, did not choose these days at random. There is a reason why each year The Production Team picks the same days. This is because they are the only days possible to achieve the best out of everyone without people burning out before the show even opens. We pick Thursday instead of Friday, to give people a chance to go home during the early stages of rehearsals because later in the process people won't be able to go home seeing as we will be having weekend rehearsals. Tuesday must be a day off as Ed said below because people need a break. Our rehearsal times are such because we have no other choice. Why can't The Committee change their times? Because at the moment I have been given no reason as to why this is. This has never been a problem in previous years and I am extremely unimpressed that this is, needlessly, being made into an issue. I will be having rehearsals on a Monday at 6:30pm, Wednesday at 3pm and Thursday at 6:30pm. I am very sorry to have to deal with this in such a way, however there is no feasible alternative. If you are in the show and on the committee I understand that you are in a difficult situation but, if you want to be in the numbers, you will be there on Monday. DCU Drama want to be professional and because of this you have hired Professionals on The Production Team to make this a reality. We will be treating you as such and therefore, if you are not present each day there will be consequences. This needs to be sorted by 2pm otherwise, I will let Ed send out the email as the committee have come up with no suitable alternative and it is unfair on the cast to keep them in the dark as they need to have time to prepare. Dear Rebecca and Drama Committee,
Unfortunately an issue has arose regarding Monday rehearsals. The first scheduled hair rehearsal is due to take place this Monday at 6.30. This comes in the aftermath of rebecca, kevin, colm and myself agreeing that for the initial weeks, rehearsals will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. We need three rehearsals a week. There has always been Monday rehearsals for the last few years and as Ger, Sinead or any of our 08/09 committee will tell you, anyone involved it RENT managed to adapt and ajust accordingly in order to accomodate the Monday rehearsal. A Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday scenario is not a runner as it would be too demanding on cast and crew. We do not want anyone to suffer from burnout or complacency. The Tuesday break is neccesary for all.
There seems to be a unique situation where it is not humanly possible for the committee to find any alternative time to meet. This is of strong concern to us as 2/3's of the committe are in the cast and Rob and Blaithin have lead roles.
We have hit a roadblock and I don't know how to get around it. I have the first cast email typed and ready to send so beit a Monday or Tuesday rehearsal I need to send it out as early as possible tomorrow in order to give the cast adequate notice. Please respond as hastely as possible.
Regards,
Ed.
