the thing off doing a film just before the panto is that we run the riask of overdoing it and people will get fed up of aladdin and that. on the Avenue Q songs, but is that just because we are all in the drama circle??? i know they were great and all but in orientation week we should aim to please as many people as possible. injust think that we have more chance of people really getting into "whose line"...it takes much less preperation.there is also the thing of liana isnt the most trust worthy person in this earth..she could say shed do it and end up not doing it at all. Heya guys, I`m just throwing in my own two cents!
As regards the drama piece for orientation week, I see no problem with performing some songs from Avenue Q. It`s true that the majority of the people watching wouldn`t be familiar with them, but it`s not the kind of show that you have to be familiar with to enjoy. I mean, the comedy night last year where Steve, Gary and Liana did their Avenue Q sketch was the first time that I ever heard the songs from Avenue Q and I enjoyed the heck out of it. I think they`re funny enough that anyone with half a sense of humour would laugh their socks off (and perhaps people with a full sense of humour may actually lose their pants too).
I suppose if we did go with Avenue Q though, the next question would be who would do it. Gary will be in Japan, so even if Steve and Liana want to do it they will still have to find a third person. Also, whoever does do it would need sufficient notice so they could rehearse. The advantages of doing Whose Line are that there wouldn`t really be any need to rehearse, and it`s very accessible to a general audience. Hmm, how`s about we do a bit of both, some Avenue Q and some Whose Line! Just a suggestion!
If we wanted to make the Disney night idea more drama-ish, why not dress up as some of the characters and perform some songs or scenes from the films before we show them...it might be a lot of work though if we do that a week before the panto...oh, we could perform a sneak preview of a scen from the panto maybe...
I didn`t know Wicked was an option for Broadway, would it not be better to steer away from ones that we`ve been to before...although I suppose if we`re aiming for members` satisfaction they`re sure to enjoy it! As for the West End, we could advertise it as an alternative to Broadway if people can`t afford the trip to New York...I`m not sure where the SPC would stand in relation to funding two trips abroad though...I`ll try and find out! ;-)
I dunno guys, I know I`m all the way over here so it`s kind of hard for me to give any input! Those are just a few of my thoughts anyway.
Sure, I`ll hopefully be able to make it to the next meeting, so I guess I`ll see all you guys then! Woo, can`t wait!
Yours in drama-ness,
Susan :-)

What is drama about watching a film.... it will just be a film soc event if ya know what i mean....id go with whose line... a bit of comedy is much better than some songs that 90% of the audience wont know. but whoever is has to bee good . steve john gary boylan are good at it, bob is too.
Arnt we going to see wicked in broadway? isnt that one of the suggestions? Also its a bit much.. a trip to broadway and west end? its alot to ask i think we should concentrate more on the drama year ...we have a lot of things to do.

Hey Guys
Just a few things...........
*Orientation week:*
Right so as you all know we were asked to do a piece for orientation week. Now we talked about stuff we could do...but didnt make any definite plans.
We need to make sure that this is good, as this is a real chance to impress the freshers.
The two idea's we throw out were 1.)A song from broadway ie Avenue Q and 2.)Who's Line.Who would we get to do these and when would we do rehearse?
Does anyone have any other idea's.
*Drama/Style Ball*
Also i was talking to Dav from style soc. They are still interested in doing the ball with us,so i will get back to you when i have more details.
*Idea's!!* ** Also also i had a couple of idea's.........what do you guys think of us throwing a disney themed movie night with film soc.If we did it the week before the panto and show say aladdin and lion king we could drum up interest in the panto at it.
Also what about a trip to see Wicked in london sometime.I know we wouldnt get granted two external trips. But we could go for a day to london and maybe get tickets reduced by the spc for a normal theatre trip...in all it would prob cost 100 euro for each person.
