Yeah, the committee training session is tomorrow from 1-2 in The Venue. I can't make it but I'd urge anybody not in a lecture at this time to attend. The bookings for spots for Clubs and Socs day are **immediately** after this training and we need to get our usual spot in The Hub beside the ATM machine.
Also, the deadline for the grant application is Tuesday, the 10th of October. This is the day after our EGM.
The following is from a post Bob made on life.dcu.ie:

for C & S Day by now, Siobhan will also be accepting bookings today from 11

on. Attendance by treasurers is strongly advised!
Clubs &
Socs Days
Tuesday 3rd & Wednesday 4th October 2006, Week 2.
10
am to 4 pm, the HUB, the Venue
You know the deal; bring on the madness!
The SPC and SCC will be there to help out, supervise and register your new
members.
Deadline for Grant Applications
Tuesday 10th
October 2006, Week 3
If your club or society does not submit a grant app,
then you do not get any money. We cannot put it simpler than
that.
Club & Society Committee Training: Effective
Meetings & Committee Roles
Tuesday 17th October 2006, Week
4.
5 to 6 pm, Seminar Room
This training session will teach your
committee how to efficiently run a meeting; what the proper procedures and
protocols are and the correct roles for each of your committee members. It will
explain exactly what the (e.g.) secretary should and should not do; the role
assumed by the chair in meetings and so on. This session will be vital for the
smooth running of your society for the coming year. We would urge at least two
members of every club and society committee to attend.
Club
& Society Committee Training: Events Safety &
Effectiveness
Tuesday 24th October 2006, Week 5.
5.30 to 7 pm,
Seminar Room
How to run a SAFE and well planned event. Safety is
obviously a priority here in DCU; at this session we will teach you the dos and
donts of running an event in the college. Everything from safety announcements
to access to fire exits will be covered. Attendance is
vital!
Club & Society Committee Training: PR &
Marketing
Wednesday 9th November 2006, Week 7.
5.30 to 7 pm,
Seminar Room
Pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin. How to
effectively promote and market your club or society! We cannot underestimate the
importance of good PR. If you do not properly promote your society, attendance
at your events and membership numbers could suffer. (This would not be a good
thing).
Coming Up!
We have several other training
sessions planned; dates are to be confirmed. Coming up: workshops on
Sponsorship, Team Building and Casualty Management. Watch this
space!
