Semester 1 Checkpoint!!!
I hope the group of 20 Drama heads who headed to see West Side Story enjoyed themselves last week! The word that I got back was that the show was excellent and most people thoroughly enjoyed themselves! We'll be planning another theatre trip sometime around week 12, so keep your eyes peeled on the e-mails! Also, well done to our First Year Rep Padraig who helped organize the trip!
Amazingly, this could possibly (don't want to jinx it!) be the quietest week to date in DCU Drama this year!!! Officially we have no events planned for this week, but a hell of alot of organizing for next week!!! So here's a taster of what's to come next week... i.e. ARTS WEEK!
Internal One-Act Festival Competition
Several short one-acts will be playing out in the venue week 8 to audition for the Intervarsity One Act Wonder Festival. Most of the shows entered are written, directed & produced by DCU students and everyone cast is a DCU student! We really encourage as many members to attend these as it supports all the hard work put in by students to try have their own plays published! Several awards will be given out to the best director, best performance, best overall production, best vibe... etc etc.
Stars in Their Eyes
Arts week will host our annual Stars in Their Eyes competition! The quality of acts this year is outstanding and there are some serious prizes to be won by both cast and audience! Make sure you get your ticket which will be sold Monday week 8 onwards! Last years show hosted the Blues Brothers, Elvis, the Spice Girls, Abba & much much more!!! This year promises some more exciting acts, but I don't want to spoil the surprise!!! So make sure to get your tickets early!
Broadway
The final payment of €100 is due to Joey in Clubs & Socs Room Monday (tomorrow) at 6:30pm. Should there be any inexplicable reason WHY you can't pay, make sure to e-mail Joey and let him know at treasurer@dcudrama.ie

Have a good reading week- for those doing humanities...
For those who aren't (like me)- make sure to take advantage of this time to grumble and groan at the humanities students...
Grumbling and groaning, Steve (diversity through controversy)
P.S. No idea what "diversity through controversy" means- but it sounds quite intellectual so I went with it... =)
P.P.S Attached is a job for an actor needed- check it out! ( laura.obrien26@mail.dcu.ie)
