Fwd: [Drama-Committee] Table Quiz
---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Eoin O' Callaghan <supernova6@gmail.com> Date: Mar 19, 2006 8:17 PM Subject: Re: [Drama-Committee] Table Quiz To: David Grimes <david.grimes2@mail.dcu.ie> I'll knock out 11 sports questions tonight if you want... I'd say stick with reliable prizes, i.e. MP3 Players...DVD Players...DVD and Telly Combo as a top prize? I'd say LIDL/ALDI would do a nice price for these type things?? How bout bottles of wine as spot prizes...Relax for the rest of the evening or get pissed...Preferably white as it's more of a "let's get pissed" option. Good idea Shelly- I'd say we can take you up on the offer of those bottles... Lynx would be great for spots...those male and female grooming packs...fingers crossed they'll help us out. Can we spare DCU DRAMA hoodies as spot prizes...i.e. getting rid of the big sizes we have left or is this a big financial disaster...Shane? Howz about we have a slave auction in the middle of the quiz...auction off a couple of the committee or enthusiastic members...can we get money this way? Bonus questions: DCU DRAMA questions...but funny ones? Henceforth and anon ones...The catchphrase of that one from UCD at the ISDA's last year...Why is Lennox called Lennox? Where is Taryn? Stuff like that... Also, for more spots, how 'bout we get randomers to come up and do impressions of committee members or actors or actresses...acting out scenes from their famous films, etc... Should the final round be a "so easy, it's ridiculous" round a la Astro Soc's quiz? They had questions like... What colour is the breast of a blue tit? Yellow, etc...How bout something like that...? Also, I am about to type out the announce-drama mail. Dave, you get in touch with DLI about the workshops for this week? Eoin. On 3/19/06, David Grimes <david.grimes2@mail.dcu.ie> wrote:
Hey Gang.
Just a few quick questions and comments in relation to the table quiz.
I) The question of rounds. Bob, Eoin and myself wrote the Film round. I have written the TV, Music, History and Science round and can handle a randomosity (or general knowledge, or generic knowledge!) round. That comes to 6 rounds. I am hopeless at writing a decent sports round, and want to know if anyone would like to help? And what should the final round be? Another -harder- general knowledge one?
II) Promotion. Finally got Gary. He will be sending the poster to Joe M and myself in the morning. We have three days to make sure everyone knows. Can everyone help us with a poster assault? And now the dreaded..
III) Prizes. I am unfortunatly totally broke until Thursday, and cannot buy the prizes. Shane, can you loosen up some funds so we may go shopping? How much are we allowed spend? Here's some Ideas I have discusses, but I need feedback, help and ideas.
--For third prize, 4x 25e vouchers = 100e worth. From where? HMV? Jervis St? Other? --Lidl and Aldi would be a very good bet for picking up funky but relativly cheap prizes, like small MP3 players, cheap digital cameras and cheap hardrives ect... but how much should we spend and what should we buy? --I am getting in touch with Lynx and Actimel to see if they'll supply a few spot prizes. --Speaking of spot prizes, exactly what do we have? I was thinking of spending ~90e on some random bits and bobs, but nothing too gaudy!
Please help out here guys, what would YOU like to see as prizes?
IV) Bonus questions: What do you think? We take x volunteers up and ask a question AND/OR give them a challenge and if they complete it, they win something pointless but amusing.
Ideas: Most sexist joke, Most embarrassing revelation, Limbo (old but classic ;P) , Timewarp (again..), striptease, urban legend questions...
V) Other ideas....
Please get back to me! I need all your assistance to make this a sucessful venture :)

Tom Madden from NUIM rang me on Wednesday, and told me ( much to my surprise ) that DCU Drama were putting on lighting workshops this week, and when we wanted him to turn up. Last I heard, we were putting this off because of the musical. Next time, please tell me. Anyway. He's starting tomorrow at 8, and going on till 10. He's going to be doing Lighting tomorrow, and possibly set design on Tuesday ( yes, it's a two day thing. Full of surprises ). He's going to need expenses. I'll find out how much tomorrow. I'm going to send out a mail to announce-drama, and to musical-crew tonight, unless someone thinks it should go in the main announce-drama one. I'll hold off till around twelve. If someone wants me to wait, say now. --Eoghan
Right, I wasn't aware that it was going to be a lighting workshop...I thought it was going to be just set design...? Anyways, I was waiting for Dave to come back to me about this as I still have the Announce-Drama e-mail waiting to be finalised. Dave, have we heard anything from the Gaiety School of Acting about a vocal projection workshop?? If not, I won't mention it in the mail... I just don't know if anyone is going to show up owing to rehearsals and the fact that it's Reading Week... Expenses...? Hmmm, yummy. On 3/19/06, Eoghan Gaffney <atlas@redbrick.dcu.ie> wrote:

Am submitting the announce-drama mail without any reference about a proposed vocal workshop for Tuesday night...I'm including news about Tom Madden and am saying it's in The Venue...we haven't got a choice do we? It has to be there...Also, karaoke is on for Wednesday evening before the table quiz...I've mentioned it...There'll probably be a small crowd but fuck it, we'll do it. We have been granted money to buy new CD'S haven't we? Shelly, you have our old ones don'tcha? Can you look into new ones for us? Shane, we are entitled to these new CD's aren't we...Confirming this with you... Kisses, [eoc] On 3/19/06, Eoin O' Callaghan <supernova6@gmail.com> wrote:
