[Drama-Committee] Prepare for Semester 2... *loads shotgun*...
We arrived home safe and sound from New York with our group of 40 drama heads! (+1 guy who decided to just show up at the airport!!! RANDOM!!!) The trip was a success and no-one died... or was seriously injured... someone hurt their toe at one point... that was it really... so... anyway... Semester 2 promises everything you could ever ask for and then some... heck- the first week is already packed with stuff to do and see! * Three Days of Rain * Musical (Change of location!!!) * Musicians Needed * The Full Monty Needs YOU! * Workshop & RAG week collection (Change of location!!!) ******************************************************** Three Days of Rain Estranged siblings, Walker and Nan, meet with childhood friend, Pip, in a derelict loft in lower Manhattan in 1995. The purpose of the reunion is to divide up the legacy of their late fathers, who worked as partners in a renowned architecture firm in the early sixties. Events take an unexpected turn, however, and it soon transpires that there's far more than bricks and mortar at stake… * Directed by Fiona Colhoun, produced by Joey Kavanagh, and starring DCU Drama veterans, Roibeárd ó Mhurcú, Eoin O' Callaghan and Fiona Colhoun, Three Days of Rain promises to be a powerful piece of theatre that is not to be missed. The show runs from Monday 5th - Thursday 8th of February in 'The Space' @ The Helix, with doors at 7:00pm and show at 7:30pm . Tickets priced €8. *** ********************************************************* MUSICAL!!! Well..it's that time of year again! *The biggest event in the DCU Drama calendar *is quickly approaching – the *annual musical*! Every year we put on an absolutely show stopping performance! Past shows have included Guys and Dolls, Sweet Charity and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. But forget about what came before – this year promises to be *BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER*. This year's show will be: *The Full Monty!* Don't be afraid to come out and expose yourself to this musical version of the popular movie by Terrence McNally and David Yazbek. You may think you know what it's all about, but The Full Monty is one of Broadway's most touching musicals showing the lengths men will go to keep a family together. These regular, blue-collar guys simply take their problems in stride – displaced, unemployed, and feeling suffocated by the women in their lives – just wanting to earn a little respect. The Full Monty's songs and dialogue will have you screeching with laughter. Will DCU Drama go the full monty? Do you have to ask? *Girls – think this sounds like a boys show?* Think again! The stage version of the well known film is slightly different, with a much bigger role for girls with more than 4 singing roles not including the chorus. There is even an additional female character that did not appear in the film! The females in this show are not only hilarious – but they are kick ass! *The auditions will take place during week 1 – in the Henry Gratten rooms CG01, CG02 & CG04 * *Tuesday Feb 6th @ **6:30pm* *Wednesday Feb 7th @ **3:30pm* *Call Backs will take place on Monday Feb 12th * The cast of characters is as follows: *JERRY LUKOWSKI* - An unemployed mill worker *NATHAN LUKOWSKI* - His young son *PAM LUKOWSKI* - His estranged wife *TEDDY SLAUGHTER* - Her live-in boyfriend *DAVE BUKATINSKY* - An unemployed mill worker *GEORGIE BUKATINSKY* - His wife *HAROLD NICHOLS* - An unemployed supervisor at the same mill *VICKI NICHOLS* - An employed supervisor at the same mill *MALCOLM MACGREGOR* - An unemployed mill worker *MOLLY MACGREGOR* - His ailing mom *ETHAN GIRARD* - An unemployed mill worker *NOAH "HORSE" T. SIMMONS* - A retired mill worker *JEANNETTE BURMEISTER* - A piano player of indeterminate years *BUDDY* *"KENO" WALSH* - A male stripper *REG WILLOUGHBY* - An unemployed mill worker *TONY GIRODANO* - A Buffalo club owner *ESTELLE GENOVESE* - Jerry's occassional girl friend *SUSAN HERSHEY* - A friend of Pam and Georgie's *JOANIE LISH* - Another friend of Pam and Georgie's *POLICE SARGEANT MINISTER* Male parts sing a variety of pop, funk, rock and R&B style numbers – with harmonies All females (except Jeanette) sing in moderate mezzo/belt range. Jeanette sings in the Alto range. All parts require minimum dance experience.
