[Drama-committee] This weeks submission to An Tarbh
Welcome to Artsweek! Stars in their Eyes Prepare yourself for startling transformations and expert choreography... Drama's annual 'Stars in their Eyes' will take place on Thursday at 7pm in the Old Bar. For further details please see the drama website. Workshops In case you hadn't realised - Drama 'aint all about the glitz and glamour of life on stage, and to prove it we'll be getting our hands dirty (or at least slightly dusty) with the two workshops this week. Set Design - Seminar Room, Monday, 6pm Our very own Claire O'Neill and Donal Mulligan will be showing you how to knock together a beautiful set (we're gonna need one for our musical), and to make sure it doesn't collapse under the weight of the entire chorus line! Come on over if you're handy with a hammer and a paintbrush, or just want to see how its done. Makeup - Seminar Room, Wednesday, 2pm Well, our stage performances wouldn't be quite the same without the liberal application of all sorts of cosmetics! This is your opportunity to learn more about this highly interesting, but often overlooked, art form. Theatre Trip "Stones in his Pockets" by Marie Jones - the Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire, 22nd November "Hollywood has descended on a rural Irish village, and Jake and Charlie are two extras on the multi-million dollar shoot of a new movie, The Quiet Valley. The two bounce from the film shoot to the catering table, from a glamorous starlet’s trailer to the pub where the locals and Hollywood crew all gather. By turns hilarious and somber, touching and hugely entertaining." We will be meeting at the New bar at 6:15 next Monday evening (22nd) before going to see this production of "Stones in his Pockets" in Dun Laoghaire. As always, our website will have further details of prices, times and changes to events, so make sure you check it regularly! www.dcudrama.ie
