Re: [Drama-Committee] [Drama] Midsummer Musical Madness
Hey! I'd love to put myself forward for musical director! I have plenty of musical experience from the age of 3 and I started conducting 4 years ago, have been waving my arms around ever since! I have a lot of experience with vocal training and the voice but would love this opportunity to direct both instruments and voice. I've played the violin since the age of 3 and have picked up many instruments along the way. So I'd love to add a musical to my bow! =P But if ye do feel ye've someone better for the job, my dream is to produce. I've been in stage school since I was 5, involved in at least 2 and often 3 productions a year. I've experience in choreography, lighting, sound and recently was back stage manager of a production of Guys and Dolls! There is nothing I'd love more than to come back to college and sink my teeth into a musical production with DCU drama. The talent never seizes to amaze me. I really would love to be given this challenge because I know I can rise to it. Hope ye're all having a great summer! Doireann Wylde MMA3 (Assuming I pass tomorrow!) Hello there Drama heads!
Bet you didn't expect one of these emails over the summer but, alas, we your shiney new committee do not rest! At the moment we are planning new and fabulous events for next year, and lets just say it is going to be one to remember.
Back to the point of this email... A lovely chap who has written many plays and musicals for RTE Radio 1 among other stations has approached us with a musical script. (Not to be mistaken with "the DCU Musical", this one will take place probable in semester one and will be on a much smaller scale.) So, we need a production team! I myself know that a few of you would be perfect for directing or producing etc. Although the thoughts of directing a musical may send some of you running to the hills, this is one that is set in a flat in Ballymun and deals with family issues with a douse of hallarity thrown in there for good measure, this is the perfect chance to expand your abilities and maybe extend your CV.
Please email or approach the committee if you are interested in any aspect of production.
See you all in September (but I'm sure I'll see some sooner!)
