I am writing to you to complain about the removal of DCU Drama Posters from both the General notice board in the hub, and the notice board allocated to the DCU Drama society in the Henry Grattan Building, just past the street, before the stairwell.
The Monday morning before last, DCU Drama put up posters on the General notice board in the Hub, which was previously empty, advertising the production of All My Sons, running in the Venue for 3 days. Close to lunchtime on Monday, I left the Venue and noticed an individual removing the posters. When I asked them, they informed us that they were instructed to do so by Shea McNelis of the Students Union. These posters were replaced on the board, but in a corner, where they were hardly visible. I asked Shea, who informed us that the Board was reserved for Rag Week posters (which I have been told on a number of occasions that the board is there for whoever gets there first, provided the poster is stamped). I was informed by Shea that the posters for Rag Week were put up previously and taken down by the Debate Society.
Today (Tuesday) when I was walking through the Henry Grattan building, I noticed that the notice board which had been allocated to DCU Drama was replaced with posters for the Rodrigo y Gabriella concert. The notice board held a piece of cloth surrounding it, and several posters for the upcoming production of The Merchant Of Venice.
Since postering the campus is the primary method of advertising our events, this has seriously impeded our ability to display our upcoming shows. I would like to know what the SPC and Students Union are going to do about this issue. At the very least, I would like the posters and cloth from the allocated notice board replaced, or money given as reimbursement.

Right, now that i've had time to think about this, and get home, this is my opinion on the whole thing. I find it extremely coincidental that she starts talking about fining us once we start complaining. I'm going out of the country tomorrow lunchtime, and won't be back till tuesday. Any chance someone could throw together a reply to this? I get the feeling it'd be better appreciated coming from somone else (: Mention that I'll do the floor on tuesday if she wants, but personally, I would be violently against paying 500 quid to do a 20 quid job. Hello Eoghan,
As we have already discussed, Hub Management Committee made a decision to allocate a certain amount of the notice board to RAGWEEK, an event which all students can get involved in. On the day in question, I spoke with the Drama Committee and they were happy that their posters were only being moved to the side. I have no reason to believe that now they have changed their mind.
She didn't. She only spoke to two people, and they said they were happy. I wasn't, and i'm not sure about the 7 other people on the committee. I wasn't so much complaining about this issue as the other one.
As regards the Henry Grattan notice board, I can assure you that no member of the events team or union exec took down any drama posters. As you know, posters are always being taken down by students - especially the nice ones! What probably happened then is that an events crew member was putting up posters all over campus and saw a space on the drama board. Unless they are a society member, they would not have known that that board is specifically for drama as there is no sign.
How can she assure this? I find it hugely coincidental that the posters and cloths had sat in that board for at least 2 and a half years, and now they've disappeared and mysteriously been replaced by Students Union posters. Over the last week and a bit, I've seen "Events Crew" taking down or covering old posters with students union ones. I've also seen the SPC putting up posters on paintwork, and giving out to others for doing the same, but that's another matter entirely.
I also wanted to ask the committee what the situation is with the paint that was spilled on the floor of the venue. The Students' Union has received a quote for the repairs and it will cost €500. As tech officer for drama, could you find out when this drama will be able to pay this? As we need to get it cleaned as soon as possible.
I think we should refuse outrightly to pay this under any circumstances. 500 euro is an EXTORTIONATE amount. I will do it for 20 quid ( to cover buying a bottle of white spirits, a wire brush, and lunch. As I mentioned earlier. Violently opposed.
Many thanks, Sarah Farrell

Yeah, I'm with Eoghans plan. Fuck the €500, fuck the SU (except dave), and FUCK whatever random figure that either Shay or Sarah randomly picked out of their head. In the history of time- from the first man took his first steps- a cleaning job has NEVER cost €500. Actually, one could get laid for cheaper. But once we clean the Venue, we'll again ask why our posters were moved. And why our spot was taken in the Grattan. Eoghan, If you need a hand, just give us a txt. Steve P.S. Could we open a can of whop-ass on DCU? Would that be ok? On 2/16/06, Roibeard O Mhurcu <dramabob@gmail.com> wrote:
