[Drama-committee] Next Year etc.
Ahoy gang, Just a thoughts... First off, with Sunday being Easter, and next Sunday being the opening night of the musical, are we gonna get a drama committee meeting going before the AGM ? I'd like to have the opportunity to discuss possibilities for next year's committee and what current members have planned for next year. I realise that quite a few current members will be in third year next year and therefore will be missing after Christmas due to Intra, which is not always the ideal situation to find oneself in... What are you guys up for next year ? I've spent the last while speaking to members about how happy they are with Drama this year, and what if anything they would change about it. (mainly first years, but then again I am the first year rep...) Anybody that gave me a sensible, thought provoking answer - I asked them to think about running for committee next year. These include Laura (lennox) Aspil, Fiona Colhoun, and Aisling O Meachair, all of whom would make good committee material, I think. I think Aisling in particular would be great, she has unlimited enthusiasm and energy but unfortunately may not be around next year (not happy with her course). While I'm not trying to "groom" anyone here, it's good to feel people out (or up, as the case may be...) :) I also had a long chat with Eoin (aka Malcolm) today, as he approached me about DEFINITELY running for committee next year. Eoin is a good friend and again has shown high levels of deication and enthusiasm this year. I went through the various positions available, mainly PRO, Sponsorship, Secretary, External Liaison Officer: obviously we can't choose our first year rep til next year, and let's face it I think Shane has done a great job as treasurer in a very short time and I'd love to see you run for next year.... Anyhoo, Eoin expressed interest in running for secretary. I think he'd be good at it too. I know that Claire is doing a little side research into Tech Officer and webmaster too. Let's see what happens there... Of course, we may find an unknown gem at the AGM, it's wide open. As for me, I've had any amount of people come up to me this week and say isn't it great that I'm going to run for chair. I personally have made no decision of any sort yet. I don't know what the CS2 workload is like (stop laughing dave). In addition, I love to perform, and as Elaine will no doubt testify, you don't get to see the chair onstage much. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to run for chair, but I am considering all of my options before making any commitments. Also, I want to specialise in TV and Video next year, and should probably get a little more active in MPS. *shudders* I am also thinking about running for the SPC either this year or next year (stop laughing dave), but again, have made no solid decision there either. So anyway, what do you guys think? What, if any, intentions do you have for next year? Fuckit, let's put our cards on the table here. Besides, if we don't have a drama committee meeting this week, that leaves us little time for discussion, and we might as well start it via email. Enough, I'm going to bed. *collapses* Roibeard "Bob" O Mhurcu, Student # 54144094 "You there ! Bring me the Wall St. Journal ! You two !
