Hi all Just a few issues to flag with you all, which indicate that we need to have at least an informal committee meeting this week: Musical - There are a few final decisions to be made about the musical, and these must be committee decisions. I also have an overall point to raise about the musical and committee involvement. This event is costing us approx 20,000 EUR - That's the second largest society event this year and the largest society-run event. The only way we can be sure of being safe in dealing with this amount of money is if we all pull together. Two people do not make a musical happen, and I can't help but get the sense that Elaine and I seem to be responsible for everything. This is not the role of the producer. I cannot stress enough that for the next ten days EVERY SINGLE committee member must work their asses off to sell those tickets, and that includes people with parts in the musical. You are committee members first and foremost, and the musical is the one event in the year that everyone should be working on. I'm not comfortable dealing with this event the way it has gone so far, there has to be a greater sense of committment from everyone. BICS - There is still an on-going discussion within the SPC as to whether a Best Society will be put forward to BICS this year. If we want to appeal this, it has to be done quickly. Also, the C&S awards nominations need to be in by next week, and the forms are complicated enough so we need to get our nominations for everythign decided - Best individual, best poster, best Fresher, best event, etc. Budgets - Large problems with the ISDA application today. It's become not only a drama issue but an SPC one. Budgets have been too late, too skimpy and too vague, and it's not our money to be irresponsible with. Anyway, that's my say for the week.
