Re: [Drama-Committee] Money, money, money
Yayness, test aghhhh. But yes, receipts are good. Anyone else got any? Cos i'd prefer them now, and not a couple of days before the exams. On 10/04/06, Joey Kavanagh <joeykavanagh@gmail.com> wrote:
Hi Shane,
I know you're stressed out at the moment but I was wondering if you could sort one last thing for me. I still need to repay my mammy for the flights to ISDA she booked on her credit card. I have receipts for you for 5 flights that come to just over €280. If you'd like, I could alter these receipts to make it look like the flights were more expensive or pretend that Fiona flew back with us - amoral, yes but it was just an idea.
I can give you those receipts tomorrow after the test - eek! Lemme know what you think,
Joey

Right folks, first off i want to apologise for my absence last night, and my general dropping the ball as of late, but college has to come first, sorry.
Anyho, i've attached an income statement for the period 26/9 -31/3 (re the bics). It almost totally accurate , except for the note at the bottom which state that SPC funding is €4000. This doesn't tkae into account the fact that Alan Kinsella is getting€3500 of it, thus leaving us with a hole of €1797.09, and well that wouldn't look to good, would it.
Overall, drama has had a fantastic year. In financial terms, we had great success with most of our events. The only events that made a considerable loss were the panto and the musical. The general inexperience of the crew of the panto (re actual costs) contributed to it being a financial failure, however, as im sure most of you are aware, the single biggest factor that affected the panto and musical, was the lack of promotion. I aint one to preach, but its a real shame to see the hard work of the cast and crew go to waste, just because the show hasn't been promoted properly. I mean, there aint anything as demoralising as performing to an empty house.
Regarding next year, i would love to see some rigid plan put in place, so that there is, well a set routine to promoting shows, and also, a proper plan for it's promotion, re times deadlines to check various costs, when the designs have to be sent to the printers, when posters must be up etc....
On a side note, i'd just like to reflect on my time being on committee with all of you. It has been great and i've had a ball, even if i was perpetually plagued for money. I will miss not having the pleasure of being on committee next year and helping drama retain its spot as the best society in DCU. One of the great strengths of this year's committee is that it consists of so many different people with different opinions. The one fear ( actually, that's a lie, i have many fears) that i have for next year's committee is that it will be, well too pally-pally, and people may not do their jobs properly for fear of offending their mates.
On a second side note, i have found that, from my experience, the induction of people into the committe is quiet poor. Obviously, this is my opinion, but at times it has been very difficult, and, well nobody sits you down and actually shows you what exactly has to be done, and how it must be done. There is no handbook on "How to be a treasurer", like, who do i go to for such and such, and why, and i found this more so last year, but also this year to be frustrating. Whilst Elaine is great in many ways, she is well, a little too totalitarian, and doesn't explain things but rather tells you if or when they arise. With this in mind, i have started putting together a guide to being treasurer, with nice slow step by step instructions on how to deal with all possible events should they arise. When i have it fininshed (hopefully by the end of next week), i'd like you guys to have a look, and give a little feedback. The idea is that this "guide" could then be posted on the website an well accessible to all potential treasurers so they could see exactly what they are geeting themselves into. I think that this idea could also be extended into other areas such as pro, elo and sponsorship.
Right, that's me done,
