Re: [Drama-Committee] Sponsorship
All, I don't actually think it's a good idea to be honest. I think the cast are stressed enough as it is without asking the to take on what is being suggested. Also there is no way we will make enough profit to fund St Michaels House project as if we do make money, it will be used to pay off what we have spent. I think it's too late at this stage to be taking on such an idea. Just my opinion. Regards, Laura On 3/16/06, Musical Producer <dcu.musical@gmail.com> wrote:

If everyone involved in the musical and the committee were all given sponsorship cards with maybe 20 lines on it and asked jus to get sponsorship off random people. If every person came back with mayb €40 and there were about 50 people then we'd have in or aound €2000. Now people might be a bit reluctant to just hand out money jus for a musical so here's how we come around that. We tell them that the profits go into the fund for producing St Michaels House project which it would be doing anyway.
Tis a suggestion and any suggestions back would be wonderful or any opinions so please get back to me ASAP so I can put this into opperation if everyone agrees

Well, the people who go to 'work' don't necessarily have to be in the cast, and it doesn't necessarily have to be during the whole musical period (can be later on in the semester). And we can make a contribution to St Michael's *if* we make a profit. Obviously, a profit isn't guaranteed. And if we do make a profit we don't have to donate all of it. Personally, I think it could work, once we organise it properly. Conor, watching Guys & Dolls for the second time. Ever.

Okay guys... Personally, I'm against this idea. It's too late and puts a lot of needless pressure on the cast and others involved. Do we expect both committee and cast to go to their families and/or relatives (who, hopefully, will be paying their 12 euro each to come and see their little darlings in the show anyway) and ask them to fork out more money to support DCU DRAMA? As sadistical as it may sound, we're not a charity organization- we're a DRAMA society. A musical is a priority on our list. Unfortunately, giving money to St. Michael's House isn't. I really do not see a point in donating a profit (if we get it) to St. Michael's when we really need the money ourselves for one of our events. Why not give the proceeds from Whose Line...that we have planned for later on in the semester, to St. Michael's? It's a NO from me on this one.
