right ken: he talked to me 3 weeks ago via email about reviews. i mentioned it in passing to a number of people to try to get unbiased reviews but to no avail. no deadline was ever given to me. when he mailed me again on monday of this week with an actual deadline i sent the mail directly to paul and riona and asked them to write something up. SEPARATE TO THIS i saw him last night and asked him had he received anything and he said he hadnt. i told him we were very busy and id try to get something in today. THEN he informed me of 2 pages that were available and had we any shows coming up. i told him we'd love it for the shows but they would be over by the time the magazine came out. i suggested that we take a colour page and put lots of photos in. and he offered the back page which i leaped at! no deadline was given last night but sooner is better than later, i presume. i mailed our riona and paul again asking them could they take this on aswell and they obliged. thanks guys. he then informed me of a second page that he would offer to 2 other societies and we couldnt have it and i said we'd like to take over the whole magazine and we laughed. that was our complete conversation. conor + macbeth: for those that were there for the conversation they might remember me saying that it was a great idea but it was very tough which conor seemed to agree with and that the best person to talk to was Daniel. Chris agreed with me and conor seemed to think this was a good idea. i dont recall any laughing in faces but i could be mistaken. i have been known to laugh inappropriately (80s night!!)no one said and no one is saying that he cant, but those with alot of straight drama experience: daniel, myself, chris who have talked about it have seen its potential downfalls. realism is important and if he can do it with no directing experience and actors with very little then THATS BRILLIANT!! if im negative i believe that its important for every side to be looked at before venturing in on what would be DCUdramas most difficult EVER production. daniel is still the man for the job and if he thinks its ok then ill support that whole heartedly. no one can disagree that in this area he is definately the most qualified. i am very positive about the potential play my mother said i never should. i think it could be brilliant. we have the cast, we(hopefully-daniel) have the director and we have the budget. rock n roll. i would like to say one more thing as i know its a big rant. isda is important. coming on to this committee i said that if their was one thing id like to see conquered it was isda. we're an amazing society and we have the trophies to prove it. we want to be a great DRAMA society on top of that. we all agreed that this would be our main focus before the summer, and im still sticking to that. thats not to say that macbeth cant be put on without the idea of isda in mind. again i leave it to daniel and his 2 cents. i would like to get pissed. lorraine would you be kind enough to organise a nice christmas dinner for us all. i want a turkey. and egg-nog. and i dont want to remember a thing. lets all calm down. its nice to see a bit of anger and use of the list but please lets find out all the facts before sending important mails. and if there is something that someone personally feels towards me or to a singular member of the committee, say it discretely. if its something that affects the whole committee, use the list. does that make sense? i dont know, im tired. mags? how are ya? anything to report? right pat rafter/ Medb
