[Drama-Committee] Bag Pack returns to date
Hey, €439.17 for today's bag pack. Its ok, but seriously we want to be raking in double that. (Actually... triple...) Any ideas? Steve -- Stephen Grimes 55456550 Applied Physics DCU Drama Chair Jedi Master 085 7079768 Bonnie: "Somebody save him, he can't swim!" Peter: "Oh, he's not even kicking. Kick Joe, kick." Lois: "Peter, he's a paraplegic!" Peter: "That doesn't mean he can't hear. Kick Joe, kick!" - Family Guy
We need costumes! I reckon that, seeing as we can't work the charity angle (well, not yet...) then we might as well make a bit of a spectacle. We need to 'make a scene'. Maybe we don't have the most appreciative audience (for those of you who weren't there today, I had one woman give me €2, only to take €1.90 change from my bucket...) but it's worth a shot. On the plus side, that's more money than I thought we'd got though. Go team, Joey On 7/13/06, Stephen Grimes <stephen.grimes5@gmail.com> wrote:

okay johns tips. 1 costumes are compulsary. 2 for fook sake if your on commmittee lead by example and try to show up or even pop your head in . And I've no problems in saying that i find it a little unscrupulous for members of the committee to expect society members to get time of work to help when there to busy working for their own paycheck. and yes i understand there are some genuine reasons. like not being in the country etc. but that about the only one that does it for me. 3 tesco . BAD IDEA the scabby fookers wont let you anywhere near there bags.why because people go to tesco to save money . also there were so few irish people in tesco yesterday im thinking about giving the guards the address of tesco jervis, wed have the countrys illegal immigration problem solved over night. 4. so what do you do when they say " no ill pack my own bags ". WE_HELL bettsie you up your offer. 5 you offer to pack there bags in slowmotion. 6 you offer to pack there bags as a robot. 7 you offer to pack ther bags as a slomotion robot. 8 you offer to rearrange the current order of their bag. 9 you offer to pretend to pack their bags so they can shout at you a little. 10 if they still refuse offer to sing form a hit broadway musical as they work. 11 if all else fails show your support by giving them military salute . but allways look off to a corner with a puzzeld face. finally the last trick of the trade is to inform them if they dont donate to dcudrama a small puppy/child will die. Hey guys, You have no idea how frustrating it is for me to be here with no way of really helping you guys out at the auld fundraising this weekend! Its actually getting me annoyed because I feel like I could have added not only an extra pair of hands - but maybe some support too! Ok - here's my two cents - haha as if you could avoid it! The Musical as a charity event? Im not so sure. In fact - I think if it is going to be done for charity - we definitely need more than an email vote to decide it! We need a good chunk of meeting time and some sort of proposed plan of action. Im not totally against it - but I think its a rash decision that could hinder us financially and most people cant committ to it right now. *HOWEVERRRRRRRR! *dum dum dummmmmmmm The mention of charity = more money for the bag packers! So..here's what I propose! At the end of the year, our profits (should we have any) or even a portion should be donated to a worthy cause. Why not give something back to a cause as a kind of karma thing as a result of us having a good year (fingers crossed)??? And if we dont have a good year and lose money - well then we can do the slave auction during the year to support charity. Anyway - what this does is - gives us something to tell the good customers of Dublin, Ashbourne and Gorey! "Hi, Im Alan, We're collecting for DCU Drama a student non-profit organisation that puts on performances and events throughout the college year. Last year however, we had a bit of bad luck financially - and now are in debt. Our goal is to earn enough money to make a profit so we can eventually give back to the community in some way." "what charity are we supporting you ask? that will be decided later on in the year by a member vote - although childrens charities in the DCU area are the usual choices" Make it seem like we do it every year - but last year we just cuoldnt make the money. And its morally ok - cuz if we have the kind of year Im hoping we will - we can afford to give back a little!!! Plus we're being sincere about wanting to help a charity - without committing the musical to it! Which for me was where I was a bit unsure about it. Look - if we dont make this money - we have nothing!! So lets do whatever we have to! ok....I'll step back down off the soap box! Good luck you guys!! Maybe do some performance of the "Oldest Established" at least people would be amused!! xoxo Suz PS keep me posted! On 7/14/06, john cannon <dcujohn@gmail.com> wrote:

Hey all I agree with Susan about the non-profit and doing stuff for the community thing. I suggest we mention st. Michael's house since we already do a show for them and maybe do a bit more for them. Not trying to sound selfish but that would also look great on next years application for the clubs and socs awards and we really need to do so much better than last year...which as we all know is going to be hard to do. Let me know what you think of the st michael's house thing because I think it is most definitely worth a go. be it shows or workshops for them they would love it! Plus it'll help with this collecting money. Also if Susan gets this soon can I have a least a draft of your proposals for sponsorship because we can def get my uncle's copmpany on board if we have a solid proposal. Talk to you soon guys and just for the record Siobhan is off to spain for a week tomorrow!! Siobhan
