Guys, exercise a little bit of cop on. You are next years committee, and should be setting an example to everyone to go out and get involved. I really am not impressed with the direction I'm seeing things going, and I would suggest every one calms down a bit. I also suggest that e-mail be only used when needed, and not over trivial matters. It disappoints me to see such haughty behavior from a group of talented people, and it is totally unbecoming of you. I am not trying to rain on your parade, or tell you what to do, but while I'm still on committee, I'd like it if you as a group would show a little restraint in both your use of the mailing list and a little respect for the outgoing committee. We have worked our arses off for the last year (and in some cases, 2 or 3 years) to make DCU Drama fun and open for everyone. You may not agree with everything we did, but I think it is unfair to be so uncouth. It's not like this was a bad year for drama, or that we did a bad job, so I would be grateful if you allowed us to leave on a graceful rather than sour note. Yours, DRG
I understand exactly where your coming from dave . but I think the were using the emailing as its supposed to be used.were discussing relevant issues for the committee. Most of the spamming stopped when we asked politey over the weekend. in that respect i think shelly was wrong to say we were argueing for the sake of it. Whether she likes it or not we seem to have sorted the issue of the dvds over email, is that not using the committee mail properly.whether people disagree with each other or not isnt any argument. Its just their opinion, To finish i dont think theres any love loss between the two committees . the new committe are completely aware of the amazing job the old committee did, and infact are in awe of the task they must take on to surmount the job done last year. but personally i think eoin is right we need to make it clear that theres a new committe with a new style and we decide how the society is run next year.that hasnt been made clear yet On 03/05/06, David Grimes <david.grimes2@mail.dcu.ie> wrote:

Think of the children!! Won't Someone PLEASE Think of the Children!! Ok, apologies for the below - i believe i got a nasty bite from a bob recently and was infected with an uber-email syndrome!! :) - to start, as far as current committee goes, i personally would see all time between the election of the new committee until at least the last day of the summer exams as being the changeover period - i would think that current committee should continue their roles until at least that time - ie, that they continue until the end of their academic year - and liase on all projects with their new counterparts. By the looks af last night's meeting, next years committee have already started with their new roles. I think the 05/06 committee should liaise with next years committee to give them some idea what they should be doing and how to go about it, and once the summer exams (and anything else planned for and during that academic year) are up, the old committee will be available for handover meetings and such but only at the request of the new committee(ie - new committee is now in power). Again, These are just MY opinions, based on what i think seem right and based on what's happened in previous years. Since nothing is set in stone for drama in our constitution may i suggest that we add that to our to-do pile?? essentially, steve, i don't know if new committee should send out emails just yet because this is the 05/06 membership, and with the exception of a few weeks before the start of the next year, I think they should deal with the 05/06 committee. (again, just opinions - i'm not laying ground rules or anything like that, just trying to throw some shape on all the madness?!! :) ) - DVD's: I do think it's great that laura and cormac took the initiative get these dvd's started, and i don't think we should start blaming anyone because a few wires got crossed. I've talked to cormac and he seems highly confused as to what's happening - if/when we resolve this, can we let him know what to do?? Personally, i don't see a problem with giving a few to joey's apartment where he and liana could sell from, and just ask cormac to supply them or sell some if he's approached?? Again, this, I feel is between Joey and Liana and whether they would prefer to keep track of all dvd's themselves. If yee want a poster made, i'd be happy to do it/ let liana take care of it or even meet up with liana and do it together (go teamwork!! :) ) Finally, to reiterate, i am not dumping on next years committee at all - on the contrary - i've been very impressed with how seriously everyone has taken their new positions, i just think could do with putting something down in print as to how this "transition period" should work. P.S. - Dave, it turns me on when you get all assertive like this!! ;) On 5/3/06, Michelle Ni Fhaircheallaigh <me athgirl@gmail.com> wrote:

*takes a deep breath* Right-ho, here's the deal: Until 1st of June, DCU Drama Committee has 17 members. Apparently I am still chair, while Steve is chair-elect and so on. We are all one big team, there is no old committee-Vs-new committee crap. Thereafter, the newly-elected committee take over, and I wish you guys all the very best of luck. I think we have a potentially very strong committee for next year, with the added bonus that all of the current committee will be around next year to offer advice, help, comfort and succour. And tea. We have to use this time to our advantage, with a nice lengthy handover period, where the new and old cttes can discuss what worked for Drama this year, what didn't, what ideas we'd like to see put in motion for next year and whatnot. I realise that you may have gotten a lot of that done at the meeting last night, and sorry once more that I wasn't there. I think we should have another uber-committee meeting after EVERYONE is finished their exams. And possibly a meal and a drinking session. On the plus side, I've asked John Doyle to rep us on the SPC and I think he's up for it. On the DVD front, it's encouraging that ordinary members want to take the initiative to set up selling the DVDs, I can only guess that Laura is heavily involved because she was a producer for the musical, and therefore feels a tad responsible for DCU Drama's rather large debt. That she's getting off her arse to do something about it is to be applauded. Given that she tackled this in her own inimitable Lennox manner is (I think) what people are getting annoyed over. Yes, there were a few crossed lines of communication - it's absolutley nothing to get anyone's knickers in a twist over. As I explained, the announce-drama mail issued instructions to email Cormac - all we have to do is liaise with Cormac, Laura, Liana & Joey to sell the DVDs outta V276, give Cormac what he is owed and lash the rest into the DCU Drama bank account. Mail your suggestions for content for the last announce-drama email of the year to dcudrama@gmail.com with FINAL ANNOUNCE DRAMA EMAIL in the title box. That way the committee list doesn't get blasted with another 40 emails in 20 minutes :) We've had a fantastic year, with a great committee, so let's have another fantastic year next year with another great committee! Woah, This stuff totally gets out of hand sooooo quickly. At what point did we offend the old committee? The reason why most of us ran was because of the great job done by the committee this year. Could I ask everyone to keep their personal problems to themselves, both committees are excellent and I personally apologize if I stepped on anybodys toes over the past few days. Is this chain of e-mails ONLY about the DVD's? Well then lets handle this very quickly. We discussed that it would be more convient to sell the DVD's out of V276, the committee agreed... BUT WAIT- it isn't more convient... Cormac, Laura and Bob have already set in motion the selling of the DVD's... So what do we do? We let them sell it- When they've sold them, we collect the cash and thank them for their help. We do nothing more to handle it, it seems safe in the hands of Cormac, Laura and Bob. They seem to know what they're doing. I think it's great that they've shown the initiative to do this project and personally I don't care who sells what, everybody trying to help Drama so I don't see the problem. IF joey and Liana want to get involved what I suggest is that they contact Cormac and ask if he needs help. Does all that sound fair? It's just we took too long to get involved and it's selling is already in motion, so why complicate issues. And I agree with Bob, could people not get their knickers in a twist and lets keep the Drama for the stage! I don't feel there's a need to fight or get upset about stuff- we're only selling DVD's!!! I think thats an ok solution, do people agree? Steve P.S. I read through this looking for possible offence, there should be NONE! So please don't take any! =) On 5/3/06, Roibeard O Mhurcu <dramabob@gmail.com> wrote:

I think Cormac has proven that he is well able to handle this job - what with his organisation of costumes etc during the musical. As long as hes made well aware of what exactly needs 2 be done with regards to recording orders and collecting money I dont see why he shouldn't just handle the selling of the DVD along with Laura and Bob! I mean we're all obviously going to promote the DVD and encourage members to buy it - so its a common goal! More money for drama!!! PS my lurve to both the old committee and the new committee xoxo On 5/3/06, Stephen Grimes <stephen.grimes5@gmail.com> wrote:
Woah,
This stuff totally gets out of hand sooooo quickly.
Steve
P.S. I read through this looking for possible offence, there should be NONE! So please don't take any! =)

Right-ho, here's the deal:
Until 1st of June, DCU Drama Committee has 17 members.
That way the committee list doesn't get blasted with another 40 emails in 20 minutes :)
We've had a fantastic year, with a great committee, so let's have another fantastic year next year with another great committee!
Yayness etc!
Bob

Think of the children!! Won't Someone PLEASE Think of the Children!!
Ok, apologies for the below - i believe i got a nasty bite from a bob recently and was infected with an uber-email syndrome!! :)
- to start, as far as current committee goes, i personally would see all time between the election of the new committee until at least the last day of the summer exams as being the changeover period - i would think that current committee should continue their roles until at least that time - ie, that they continue until the end of their academic year - and liase on all projects with their new counterparts. By the looks af last night's meeting, next years committee have already started with their new roles. I think the 05/06 committee should liaise with next years committee t o give them some idea what they should be doing and how to go about it, and once the summer exams (and anything else planned for and during that academic year) are up, the old committee will be available for handover meetings and such but only at the request of the new committee(ie - new committee is now in power). :) )
Finally, to reiterate, i am not dumping on next years committee at all - on the contrary - i've been very impressed with how seriously everyone has taken their new positions, i just think could do with putting something down in print as to how this "transition period" should work.
P.S. - Dave, it turns me on when you get all assertive like this!! ;)

AFAIK, Until June 1st, Bob i-ells them? Fair play to Laura and Cormac,
they made it, produced and edited it, offered us the option and are now selling it for us. Kinda childish for us to get up in arms about it. We should encourage our members to do stuff like that more often, and we should OFFER them a hand in selling them.
Honestly, get wound up over more important issues people.
Over and out.
