[Drama-committee] Domain name
how pricey is drama.ie?! it will be money well spent but i'm just wondering...
I really don't think it would be money well spent at all. What's a domain name really got to do with anything? Save money and spend it on shows. That's what it should all really boil down to.

I can get .ie domains for €70 + VAT (~ €95) but it is worth it, and elaine is right you can probably get sponsorship and even specific advertising on the site. It really shouldn't be a problem to get a sponsor for the site if its drama.ie, you probably get entertainment.ie to put a banner ad on the site, and give us a couple of hundred euro (absolute minimum) a year. there are some criteria for registering a domain name E. Unincorporated Association/Club Required Documentation 1. Proof of Trading letter from your accountant, bank manager or solicitor. This letter should state; "I act as accountant/solicitor/banker to this association/club and confirm that (insert domain name here) is an unincorporated association." OR a. A copy of the constitution of the association/club. PLUS 2. Registered Business Name Cert (RBN 1A, Title: Application for Registration of a Business Name by a Partnership) in the exact domain name you are applying for (costs £25 and is available from the Companies Registry Office, see www.cro.ie for details of how to apply for this) or photocopy of the application form(because it can take up to 6 weeks for the actual cert to be issued) for the registered business name stamped "paid in full" by the Companies Registration Office. But i just checked and Drama.ie is available, I presume someone else did this and discovered this already, but it hadn't been said. So the cost of the domain is really closer to €130 when all is said and done. could be worth it. (Daniel does have a valid point) Any ideas.

If we look at the website as an important aspect of the advertising package we're offering sponsors, then approx 130 Euro (and 100 per year after) is reasonable. It's just we would have to really be sure of a major sponsor. I'd be happy with either, but the extra standing for promotion etc. from the .ie domain would be great. Especially seeing as we intend to have the most kick-ass website this year :) Re: the musicals - Streetcar isn't a musical, although there is an opera version (methinks that's way out of our league...) The director I know has done Streetcar only a load of other straight drama productions, so he mightn't be suitable for a musical. However, he was interested in staging My Fair Lady, although warned costumes would be an expense. Same goes for Evita - lot of props, etc. He said the Best little whorehouse in Texas is fun but a bit sinister, not suitable for kids at all, but college students might like it. P'raps we should rent out a load and sit down together for a day to watch 'em.... ________________________________________________________ "Everyone knows that art is not truth. hi everyone just quickly want to say cheers for a great meeting the other day. we have a little more grounding than we did the previous week so thats always a good thing. a special thanks to paul, riona and breifne for being there nice and early to get the inventory done in 3 hours. it wasnt a fun job but marti wheelan would be thankful now that we've found his wardrobe!! there are many issues to talk about on wednesday that everyone is eager to discuss now. i suggest that we all gather our opinions and rather than random emails we should have structured arguments on wednesday. its the fairest option (and saves my mothers phone bill as im too far away from college to come in all the time to check mails. im sure some of you are in the same boat. oh the nagging...) it was suggested to me that we take part in online voting. this is not a good idea unless absolutely necessary, ie during the summer. lets keep the mails to a minimum, and hold out til wednesday. its great to see such enthusiasm though!!! cheers to everyone who have started (and some finished!!) their jobs for the week, good goin lads! in a bit, medb. ----------------------------------------- If it doesn't have siamese twins in a jar, it is not a fair. i found a site that would give it to us for 60 euro
