DCU DRAMA COMMITTEE MEETING * * *Agenda: Friday, September 7th, 2007* * * * * - Ratification of last meeting's minutes - Any matters arising from the minutes - Broadway - Orientation Week - Sponsorship update - Web update - Finalise calendar - Musical - Panto script - Workshops/Play in a Day - Possible trip to the West End - AOB *Apologies: *Megan** *Broadway:* - possible shows - Wicked - Spelling Bee or Legally Blonde: Spelling Bee wins - Phantom or Les Mis *Orientation Week:* - Lisa Muldowney is a lovely woman :) - possible songs to perform from Avenue Q: I Wish I Could Go Back To College, For Now, Purpose - get three performers: Alan, Brendan and Fiona - presenter type person to fill in the bits between the songs: Pauric - dress rehearsal this Friday coming at 2pm - Full Monty for sexual orientation week? - the guys don't really want to do it again - we're not allowed to put leaflets into the packs because it might start a precedent - but we do it every year because we pack the packs - hand out leaflets outside the Mahony Hall, or leave them on chairs - the orientation performance is happening on Monday (10:30am) and Wednesday (3pm) - have a stall in the Hub for two days: Tuesday and Wednesday - have two workshops: Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon - we may get money for doing the orientation piece - need to book the Venue for Tuesday and Wednesday for workshops - Pauric to ask Lisa what time orientation stuff finishes *Sponsorship update:* - AIB is to get back to Fiona - she's been in contact with BOI but they haven't got back to her yet - waiting for Major Tom's and Rírá to get back too - plans to get in contact with Homebase *Web update:* - the banner is the only thing left to do - Six Semesters went up this morning - DADAs winners to go up, as well as the new drama video *Finalise calendar:* - Semester One - Week 0: orientation piece - Week 1: one night at the NuBar for karaoke, probably not Tuesday because of €3 Tuesdays - Pauric to get on to Jay - Week 2: Clubs and Socs Day, another workshop in the Venue - better to leave the professional workshops until we've got the mailing list so we can contact the membership - Week 3: EGM - Weeks 5, 6, 7: workshops - Shea doesn't want us to do Rocky Horror for Halloween Ball - maybe do it in T101, but it wouldn't have the same atmosphere, no drink and is distanced from the Halloween Ball - Week 8/Arts Week: Play in a Day, Loafs, Stars, Comedy Night - we mightn't get the Venue for four nights - but putting Play in a Day in Arts Week guarantees an audience - maybe move comedy night to another week - is the Clubs and Socs Ball in Week 8 or 9?? - Week 10: One Act Wonder Festival - Week 11: panto, Christmas party - Semester Two - Week 0: Broadway - Week 1: musical auditions - Week 2: Drown Drama - Week 3: film shorts festival, in association with MPS - Week 4: Shakespeare and Vagina Monologues - Week 5: intercollege film festival, in association with MPS *Musical:* - couldn't find the rights to The Wiz, Weinberger doesn't have them - Fame and West Side Story are available - West Side Story has a really complicated band, Fame might be easier - Pauric and Jenni to talk about putting the musical on the grant ap *Panto script:* - Aladdin 3 looks pretty good, Aladdin 6 is a bit shite - Aladdin is a definite *Workshops/Play in a Day:* - Yvonne had a meeting with Liam Halligan - Play in a Day on Tuesday, 13th November: eeep, Clubs and Socs Ball!! - two workshops with Liam Halligan organized for 30th October and 6thNovember *Possible trip to the West End:* - open to people who didn't go to Broadway before people who did? - possibly Semester Two - Semester One might be better, to separate the two trips abroad - but then we would have to offer both Broadway and West End at the EGM - we might only sell it in Semester Two, but could we fit it in? - mid Semester Two is out because of rehearsing for the musical - after the musical people would be too tired and studying for exams - what about the weekend that the musical actually ends? - possible amount going: 25? - what about a day trip, leave early in the morning, catch a matinee and come back late at night - some people would like to explore London a bit though - places can be kind of cheap, about €15 a night - we mightn't get enough numbers, because people don't have the money - the whole committee doesn't have to go - we'll say yes for now, but we'll review it again in Semester Two *AOB:* - can't book the Venue until Orientation Week - the SPC got an email from Buildings saying that Drama dumped stuff behind the Hub and Buildings billed the SPC for a skip to take the stuff away - the SPC are fully behind Drama - we're not going to pay because they didn't ask us to move it, we didn't even know they wanted it moved - Alan suggests renting a shed on Shanowen Road - but renting for a year would be expensive, and distance would be a problem - sets for different shows, put them on the Art Soc grant ap? - maybe about 30%, because Drama will get more money than Art Soc - put in association with Art Soc on the poster - no new hoodies until we sell the old ones, still about twenty left - Disney themed film night the week before the panto, in association with Film Soc - make it fancy dress, maybe perform a song from the panto - Style Soc are planning to put on the fashion show in Week 5 of Semester Two *- Next meeting: Monday, September 17th*
