[Drama-Committee] dvd's
hey guys as you know no lenox and cormac took the dvd issue into their own hands. this slightly contradicts our plans to have liana and joey drive the boat on the whole dvd scheme. lennox fowarded her message to bob and asked him to send it out to announce drama. bob assumed that that was what we decided at committee last night and did as lennox asked. so basicaly were lucky she chose the price we decided on last night ( 7 euro ) the only key difference is that she put cormac as the contact for selling the dvds as apposed to joey selling them out of his apartment. so i dont know if its better to leave it as is and have cormac give joey the dvds to sell out of his apartment once cormac has taken all the orders. either way i think it should of been lianas and joeys job to come up with a selling strategy e.g posters in the hub , trailers on bebo etc. although this can still be done. opinions? john -- John Cannon Science & Health Convenor DCU DRAMA Secretary 55609739 Pha1 086-2120067
hey guys i think we should go ahead with joey and liana. i think it was a
bit naive of laura o do that. if she was on commitee and it was the other way around she would come down on us like a tonne of bricks...considering that she went mad on at i think it was dave for asken for hats after a guys and dolls show -- Alan Keegan Equipment Officer DCU Music/DCU Drama Societies 0857120647
hey i think susans right . cormac should work with joey to sell them out of his apartment but liana should still try promote the dvd about campus. even posters in clubs and socs would go a really long way. On 03/05/06, Alan Keegan <alankeegan5@gmail.com> wrote:

It was a bit of an oversight on Laura's part, to be honest. Susan and I spoke to Cormac the other day and he was under the impression that the committee would take responsibility for selling them. I don't mind either way. It seems messy to send another announce-drama e-mail though. It reflects badly on the organisation skills of our new committee. Can I make suggestion that Bob double-checks with Steve before posting announce-drama e-mails? That might help avoid such misunderstandings in future. Ooops, Please forgive a horribly hungover old man. But there's no need to send out another announce drama email - the email I sent simply said to email Cormac - he can easily tell anyone that emails him to collect their DVDs at v276. It's all do-able, and apologies for the confusion. Aaaargh, my head. Bob On 5/3/06, Joey Kavanagh <joeykavanagh@gmail.com> wrote:

Re: the DVD'S It really has been taken out of our hands. The problem is that Cormac commutes from Tallaght on occasion and isn't on campus as regularly as Joey, despite him living on Res. I would like Joey to take the DVD's to his apartment and keep them there. Can we get in touch with Cormac about this? Posters should also be put up. Cormac has posted on 'Life' to attract interest from Alumni and they have also been e-mailed regarding this. To be perfectly honest, I think Laura hasn't done herself any favours by going through Bob (no offence) as he's no longer the DRAMA chair. This fact has to be ironed out to EVERYONE. There is now a new committee in charge of things and we do them *our* way. *Steve*, if you want to send out an introductory 'Announce' mail, simply announcing the new committee and giving a little teaser of things to come next year- incorporating the message for interested members in having ideas for shows next year...? Can we get trailers on Bebo? It would be good. Also, can *Conor* add this DVD news on our homepage- 7 euro- all members- a photo from the show/or the poster from the show- and a quick message like "Due to phenomenal demand, DCU DRAMA have limited copies of their brilliantly received musical, "Guys and Dolls", on sale now. Please contact "*insert Joey's e-mail address here*" and "*Cormac's e-mail here*" for details of how to get your copy! Move fast though- these are selling VERY quickly! *Joey*, this sound alright to you? You think you have the time to dole out DVD's to people and liase with Cormac on picking them up from him? Can we also put up the details of the DVD- chapter selection/ inlay/ official DCU DRAMA packaging/ credits/optional menus/etc? And how about "comments" from famous people on the musical...? Like, "a riveting, rip-rorous tour-de-force"- Roger Ebert or what The College View said about it, An Tarbh, Flashback, etc? I think *Liana* could maybe look into the poster side of things...a nice glossy re-hash of the show poster but utilising the same things that the publications said about the show...? www.collegeview.com has the College review and Bob wrote the review of the show for An Tarbh. Myself and himself also have copies of the Flashback that we're mentioned in. Also, the usual things like price, contact details and the fact that it's a DVD with special features, blah, blah, blah...This okay, Liana? Get back to me with your take on things... Hey, Study all day, missed the action! Yes, everything Eoin said is completely valid. I want to only send ONE more announce drama e-mailing saying EVERYTHING that our members need to know. I sent an e-mail to Bob saying not to send another announce drama e-mail. So, BEFORE I send the e-mail is there anything VITAL i need to include- I don't wanna leave shit out and have to send ANOTHER announce drama e-mail. So could people e-mail what they think is important and i'll e-mail it tonight? THat sound goodish? As for the DVD's, I'll adjust it so that it says cormac and joey are selling them. Joey, would you mind contacting Cormac on this one and getting hold of what he has? If Liana could get posters up that would be great, but I think our biggest sellers are going to be the CAST. So i'm going to ask cormac for the cast list of names and numbers. I'll willing ring round on this one and get some buzz going. As for the poster, contact cormac.fay@gmail.com- he has the orignal posters and I'm sure you could edit them (or ask cormac to) so that they say DVD €7- short supply. ON the subject of the posters- remember that we're tring to make a profit from these DVD's and if we plaster the place with posters I don't see a profit happening. I personally think calling each of the cast is the most efficient way, but a few posters wouldn't go a miss. And yeah, some sort of Flashnox or something on the dcudrama webspace and Bebo, this would go miles in promoting the DVD... conor, i smell webmaster territory... (all things electronical and bleepy...) Also, when defining chair, we left out ---> Should be in charge of organizing any foreign trips (or something to that effect) cus I think it's unfair to ask anyone else to organize it. That sound good? It'll also encourage future committees to consider having a foreign trip each year. But if people could get to me TODAY about stuff for the announce drama e-mail- I'll rip through the minutes, but just in case i forget shit... AFAIK, Until June 1st, Bob is still chair and I am still vice-chair. Who really gives a fuck who sells them? Fair play to Laura and Cormac, they made it, produced and edited it, offered us the option and are now selling it for us. Kinda childish for us to get up in arms about it. We should encourage our members to do stuff like that more often, and we should OFFER them a hand in selling them. Honestly, get wound up over more important issues people. Over and out.
