[Drama-Committee] Les minutes...
Voila! (Don't know why I'm suddenly in a French-y mood...) Susan :-) DCU DRAMA COMMITTEE MEETING * * *Agenda: **Monday, November 19th, 2007*** * * * * - Ratification of last meeting's minutes - Any matters arising from the minutes - The LOAFS - What happened with Music Soc - Style Soc calendar - One Act Wonder Festival - Stars - Comedy night - Living statues for Arts Week - Broadway - Back drop for the panto - Student director for the musical - Choreography for the musical - Masquerade Ball - Announce drama email - AOB *Matters arising:* *- Declan to get the receipt for the Rocky Horror screens* *- Yvonne to organise the gift basket for Liam Halligan* *The LOAFS:* - it was a successful event, close to 100 people there - took in €130 *What happened with Music Soc:* - Music Soc left their PA system in the Old Bar, we didn't know it was theirs - we didn't really need it for the LOAFS but we used it because it was there - Music Soc came over at ten past eight wanting to take their system back - we explained to them that it would look unprofessional on our part to dismantle the system just when the LOAFS were due to start - we arranged with Dearbhla that we would bring the system over to the nuBar at half nine for their Open Mic night - Kate O'Neill and Susan Hurley came in at twenty-five past nine and started giving out - it would have been unprofessional of them to interrupt our performance by taking the system away - they should have come over at ten to eight when they knew we had their system and we would have had time to dismantle it before the LOAFS began - they cancelled their event, but then put it back on when we brought their system back over to the nuBar after the LOAFS were over - Kate gave out to Pauric afterwards, he tried to explain our point of view - unfortunately their event didn't go as well as they could have hoped - but no one was in the right and no one was in the wrong - there may be a little bit of tension between drama and music from now on - want to promote intersociety love - let's be nice to Music Soc, no dwelling in the past *Style Soc calendar:* - Dave approached Pauric last week about drama doing a picture for the Style Soc calendar - we could ask for March and do a Fame-themed picture as promotion for the musical - could get five models in eighties clothes to do a dance pose *- Alan to organise the people for the photo* - just talk to specific people rather than sending out an email *One Act Wonder Festival:* - there have been problems with finding a suitable date for the festival - DCU suggested that we could do it for one night this Thursday, better than nothing - Pat's think that Thursday is far too early - they suggested that DCU could hold it Wednesday of Week 10 - definitely decided: we will do it in Week 10, it's in the evening so we should be able to fit it in - have six acts, one from each college - DCU will be putting forward Mourning Calls - the set up will be similar to the LOAFS - audience will be made up of people from other colleges too - it will be Open Mic night as well, so let's give the PA system to Music Soc well in advance *Stars:* - things are looking well - the producers are meeting up with all the contestants and MPS on Wednesday *- Alan to confirm with MPS that they are organising the tech for the pre-recording* - three judges: Lisa Muldowney, Alan Flanagan, Shea McNelis - Greg is going to do the interval act - but it might be better to put him on at the end, while the judges are off deliberating - his band can set up themselves, no hassle there - Jay is doing the tech - SPC will give us €400 for tech, based on projected ticket sales - €4 for tickets, want to sell 100+ *- Conor to organise posters for Stars, get them up by tomorrow or the day after* *- Fiona to try and organise sponsorship for Stars, maybe try the Slipper, maybe go to the Art and Hobby Shop for prizes* *- Alan to look after the programme* *- Pauric and Conor to help out backstage, also Adam Murphy and Conor Tweed* - starting at 8pm on Tuesday, but mentally believe that it's 7:30pm so we're ready on time *Comedy night:* - Megan couldn't get in touch with Ian Coppinger about the comedy workshop - Pauric is going to run the comedy workshop this Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm - on the topic of workshops, there will be a tech workshop this Thursday from 5pm to 7pm - the comedy night will be a similar format to last year, maybe have a few songs at the beginning - comedy night will be happening in the Old Bar, not the nuBar *Living statues for Arts Week:* - there will hopefully be a prize for Arts Week, but the Educational Trust are being stingy with their money - drama's idea: let's turn the Hub into Grafton St on Wednesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm - John, Dearbhla and others can do some busking - Marian can do face painting and hair braids and make animal balloons - Pauric can be a living statue, or a mime - Art might be able to do portraits - Juggling might be able to juggle - have buckets for Rag Week *Broadway:* - the flights are okay at the moment - very difficult to get in contact with the hostel - needs to be done this week *- Jenni and Susan to try and book the hostel at **4:30pm** on Tuesday* - if that doesn't work, try at 4pm on Wednesday - if that doesn't work, try at 3pm on Thursday - show tickets need to be organised as soon as the hostel is sorted *- Alan and Pauric to sort out tickets to the shows* - Broadway people to meet Thursday of Week 10 at 6pm *- Pauric to email Broadway people about this meeting* *Back drop for the panto:* - Niamh is going to take care of it - needs to be organised this week *- Marian to tell Niamh to contact Jenni about ordering it* *Student director for the musical:* - both Steve and John are interested - Pauric has forwarded Steve's CV to Olena - John contacted Pauric last night saying that this is probably his last chance to be in the musical and that he thinks he would prefer to act in it rather than direct - we will know for definite by Wednesday whether he wants to do it or not - if John doesn't do it, Steve will do it *Choreography for the musical:* - Olena has organised Aoife Kearney to be the choreographer - but she has never seen her dance or seen anything she has choreographed, doesn't know what she can do - maybe Olena shouldn't accept the first person who comes to her - the director should have an input as well - what exactly is the role of producer: simply do what the director says? or is the director employed by the producer? *- Pauric to say to Olena that maybe she should audition Aoife and speak to the director (whoever he will be) about what he thinks also* *- Pauric to bring up the issue of role of producer with her as well* - last year it was clear who had the authority because it was a professional director *Masquerade Ball:* - don't know if it's going ahead - Casino Ball is happening around the same time - as of last Friday Dave hadn't contacted Megan, but Megan still wants it to go ahead *- Fiona and Megan to contact Dave* *Announce drama email:* - the email to committee is being sent out only three minutes before the email to the membership *- Pauric to send it out a little bit earlier so the committee can add things if we want to* *AOB:* - Do You Think You Can Dance? is happening on Monday at 8pm in the Venue - Pauric is producing it and is looking into getting judges for it - Lisa will probably email out about the Open Day winners - try and sell more hoodies, maybe around panto time *Next meeting: Sunday, **7:30pm**, **November 25th, 2007*
