The brainchild of troupe members Emma Weafer (Producer) and Garvan Murphy (Writer / Director) Oz: a Fairytale Plot is a homage to the many and varied musicals, books and parodies of all things Oz that have been conjured into being since L. Frank Baum first picked up his pen and created the quintessential American fairytale. Oz: A Fairytale Plot borrows elements from many of these sources but remains faithful to none. DoppleGäng have taken the Technicolor camp of MGM's 1939 masterpiece, The Wizard of Oz, the clever subversiveness of 1970s re-make The Wiz and the quiet pathos that underscores the storyline of Wicked (the latest Broadway smash from Stephen Schwartz) which is based on the unashamedly dark Wicked: The Life And times Of The Wicked Witch Of The West by Gregory Maguire.
