Re: [Drama-Committee] [Drama] RENT
Hi Ger, I know most people won't agree, but it is slightly unfair that those hoping to the audition for RENT are expected to learn a song from the show in less than a week. I understand it will make it easier for your director to cast the parts and also will cut down on the work load when the parts are cast, but auditions are usually about the candidate showing themself off to the best of their ability. Learning a song in 6 days and then auditioning with it will be difficult. I am not sending this email out of anger or spite, merely out of fairness for myself and other Drama members. Hi Buddies
First of all I want to say a major congrats to Holly, Alan and the entire cast of Snowfinger (I include techies and Set builders in cast). You put on a fantastic show, which was enjoyed by all who saw it and there was ALOT of people who saw it. You should all be very proud of what you achieved.
But now onto the serious business ahead of us. The Musical has always been the flagship show on DCU Drama's calender and this year is definitely no exception. The show is RENT and those of you who know it, know the task ahead of us, so we want to cast this thing THIS SEMESTER!
NEXT WEDNESDAY our director will be in CG01 between 2pm and 9pm, and want to hear you all SING a song, preferably a song from RENT itself. The list of songs he would like to hear for different parts are as follows
Roger - One song glory + Without you + Rent + Light my candle
Mark - Rent + Tango Maureen
MiMi - Light my candle + Out Tonight + Without you
Angel - Today for you + I'll cover you
Joanne - Tango Maureen + We're ok + Take me or leave me
Collins - I'll cover you
Maureen - Over the moon + Take me or leave me
Benny - You'll see
song lyrics, a link to the movie and more info can be found at http://www.dcudrama.ie/rentauditions.html , Youtube is also littered with videos of each song, so I wish you all the best of luck.
I also want to ask you all a favour. We on the committee want RENT to be a DCU musical not a DCU Drama musical, so please tell anyone you know who may be interested, has a great singing voice, plays an instrument, want to build sets etc. This show will be as great as the effort we all put into it, and believe me this show WILL be great
have a great weekend
Gerard
