Hi all

We have been offer to take part in a student based entrepreneurship forum being set up in DCU (see Forwarded message). It could be for our members interested in business and improve relations with the business societies. It may lead to teaming up between members to make and market projects and improve a student's hire-ability.
It would also put more work on our plates and may not be seen as part of our society's goals.

The question is, should we go for it?

Please give feedback on what you think of this offer and when you sure please vote on whether we should except the offer.

This experiment is to find if we are able to work online and around our conflicting schedules (if you have thoughts on this; email me separately eoin.ohobain2@mail.dcu.ie)

Regards
Eoin

Hi all,

I'm Fionn, I've just finished my first year of business studies and I'm looking for help to establish a student based entrepreneurship forum and network in DCU.

In January of this year UCD students set up the Irish University Entrepreneurship Forum, a new platform for students interested in start-ups and business.
The goal of the IUEF is to help foster a culture of entrepreneurship among Irish students.

Since January they have received a massive amount of support, with sponsorship from organisations such as Archipelago, Accenture and KPMG among others.
They have also received support from every university in Ireland.
In march they held a very successful showcase of new businesses started by UCD, UCC and Trinity students.

Would the Engineering society be interested in helping to expand the IUEF to DCU? In order to do so, we would need a strong, diverse team of students.
The Accounting and Finance Society have already expressed interest and I have contacted the Engineering society.

The main roles needed will be, leader, PR director, events director and company recruiter, although most decisions and responsibilities will be a team effort.

The main purpose of the team would be to promote the IUEF among students, organise talks and workshops for DCU students and ultimately recruit some promising new companies to showcase in the national annual event.

From what I can see, this will be a great way to get to know the various companies getting started in DCU.
I also like to idea idea of running workshops during the year to help non-business students who are interested in starting a business.
In addition, it will be an ideal opportunity to bring together students from various courses and universities to combine skills and interests.

I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Regards,
Fionn
