Yale University’s Daniel Spielman, ICT Consultant for Arup, Padraig Kenny and Professor of Genetics Kevin Mitchell are among the speakers who will join Dr Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain to mark Ireland’s biggest day in Mathematics. Royal Irish Academy Hamilton Day Programme – Friday 16 October 2015 With the support of Arup and the Irish Times, the Royal Irish Academy will once again honour the great Irish Scientist, William Rowan Hamilton (1805-1865). The Academy has put together an exciting programme of events to mark the anniversary of Hamilton’s historical discovery. Public Conversation and Prize Giving 2015 – Royal Irish Academy at 3.30pm The Academy will host a public conversation moderated by Dr Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain. The panel discussion will cover mathematics, engineering, statistics, ICT and genetics. The panel will explore how they use networks to model connections within their individual disciplines. Speakers include: Daniel Spielman, Yale University Kevin Mitchell, Trinity College Dublin Padraig Kenny, Arup Nial Friel, University College Dublin Moderated by Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin Following the Public Conversation, ten of Ireland’s top mathematics students will be awarded the Hamilton Prize in recognition of their achievements.
