[Engsoc-Committee] Flyer/Hoodies
Hi guys, I'll keep it brief. I've attached a visio file a pdf of the poster that Ian favoured last week but just now Laura and Shahad have said they liked the second design from last week. If I'm to use the second one I need to know before this evening and also I need your input as to what the wording should be as the poster is due to be submitted tomorrow. If I know soon enough I can work on it tomorrow. *Hoodies* * * I've notified the members of the delay and one member has since replied saying he wants a refund as he is leaving for America on the 11th of June. How do we deal with this? My interpretation of the situation is that a deposit is a deposit and it is implied that it is not refundable however we have not lived up to our claim of 6 weeks delivery time. We delayed the ordering of the hoodies due to good cause but it has contributed to the delay so some of the blame can be contributed to us. Part of me is thinking we shouldn't refund a deposit but part of me is thinking we should refund him and we could use the unwanted hoody as a spot prize in the future or during orientation week. What do you guys think? Heres his e-mail: "Hi Tom, I'm due to be flying out to america on the 11th for the summer and I was hoping to have the hoody before then. If this isn't possible, at this stage i'd just like to get a refund. I know this is the suppliers fault but when I put the deposit down I wasn't expecting to have to wait a few months for it to be delivered. I can't imagine that they actually have them made yet if they can't deliver them on time so hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult to cancel the order. Thanks, Andrew O'Byrne White" Regards, Tom
Hi all, If the design chosen is to be B then I feel the text has to be changed and probably shortened. I myself still prefer the C. On the recent design sent out I would rephrase the first paragraph to “Come and meet the Engineering Society and find out about DCU from people who really know about it”. I would probably remove the second paragraph and lengthen the third bit to include a bit more info about the event. I disagree with Ian, I feel that due to the circumstances that the poster/flier will be presented in the first years will be inclined to read them. And the text is both brief and to the point. I think it gives an apt description of our society and makes it sound appealing. I don't think people need an explanation of what a scavenger hunt is and the poster states the events priority is an introduction to their new class mates and the society, which is our goal with this event. Firstly, my flyer preference was 'Flyer B' but I know it looks a bit "busy". Secondly I agree with Deery. I think that the flyer content just needs to be kept simple: to the point with the basic information that the first years need to know.
Hey Tom... Firstly I just want to see well done on all of the posters.... I think that before lectures start should be taken out of the 2nd paragraph, Kav said it was too long winded... And also im not sure that how you spell familarise... i dunno =s Well done Laura On 8 June 2011 19:26, Tom Molloy <tom.molloy4@mail.dcu.ie> wrote:

Excellent Job my good man. I think the 2nd one made me lose interest very quickly there is too much to read! - This event is about the Scavenger hunt not about the society per say we can tell them about the society when there registered ! - I agree B is the best Template but C has the best info! - I suggest to take out the details about the society and place in point form what we offer and why the scavenger hunt is cool in the B Template. - People have short attention spans points are easier to remember. - I couldn't resist but my opinion in point form lol! Why is there a 2nd email for this? On 8 June 2011 21:43, Laura Cunningham <laura.cunningham23@mail.dcu.ie>wrote:
