Hi Ian,
Happy new year to you and hope you had a lovely Christmas.
Can you just let me know that you and the society are still happy to get involved with Third Level Day of Engineers Week? Its slowly but surely creeping up on us!
Just a quick update – I’ve sent off the permits today, the t-shirts are ordered and Enable Ireland will be providing the buckets and stickers again this year.
Cheers,
Julie

Hi Ian,
Leave the t-shirts with me and I’ll get back to you shortly!
I just wanted to email you regarding our plans for Engineers Week 2012. You may need me to chat to you to go through it but hopefully I can explain well through an email!
The week is taking place from the 27th of February until the 4th of March 2012. The overall objective of the entire week is to promote engineering and to generate interest in engineering as a career.
The week is planned out as follows: - Monday 27th February: Launching Engineers Week. - Tuesday 28th February: Innovation Day; Third Level Day, On-Street Charity Collection and Ethical Hackathon. - Wednesday 29th February: CPD Seminar. - Thursday 1st March: Volunteer Day; Volunteer engineers visit primary schools. - Friday 2nd March: Open Day; Engineering firms open their doors to the public. - Saturday 3rd March: Family Fun Day; Show for children.
Where I am hoping you and the society will get involved is Third Level Day – I will be organising the on-street charity collection and Richard Wilson will be organising the Ethical Hackathon. Last year I organised a similar event in Dublin with UCD, DIT and TCD but it was on a much smaller scale. As it was very successful I am hoping to expand it to Blanch IT and DCU, and also as far as Cork IT and UCC, GMIT and NUIG.
The charity I have chosen is Enable Ireland, as Enable Ireland are using engineering innovation in the technology they use to treat people with disabilities. On the day itself I will be hoping that all of the students will be on the streets in “Engineers Week” t-shirts, shaking Enable Ireland buckets! It will probably be an early start as the best time to do an on-street collection is at rush hour. There will be media coverage and the photo for the press for Innovation Day of Engineers Week will be of students shaking their buckets!
I haven’t nailed down all of the details yet, but I am hoping to invite you guys back here, to 22 Clyde Road for breakfast after it.
I’m really hoping you and the society are interested in taking part this year, it was a really enjoyable event last year! You might chat to the other guys involved and see if you can roll it out to the students?
See the leaflet attached for all activities taking place for Engineers Week 2012.
Let me know if you require any further information at all, I am happy to help!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
All the best. Kindest regards, Julie Goggins Third Level Liaison Engineers Ireland 22 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4

Hi all, No, it's not on campus. Yes, we did discuss this in a meeting. I asked one last time instead of going straight to Julie and saying we were on board because I will not be able to do it, and I do not want to say we will then everybody pulls out and then people try and guilt/force me into going or I have to tell Julie at the last minute we won't have anybody there. There has to be a presence from the committee or we shouldn't say we are on board. And Deery no I won't tell her to get stuffed, she already did send us money. Everything I've been told about it was forwarded in my previous email, if you have forgotten anything. If you can't see everything then it has been automatically hidden and you need to unhide it. Hi Ian,
Leave the t-shirts with me and I’ll get back to you shortly!
